New for the 2020 season, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour will be hosting the first ever Junior Long Drive (JLD) Championship series. This new competition will allow juniors to test their Long Drive skills against the top competition across the U.S. throughout the year, and it will culminate with the first ever Junior Long Drive Championship “Under the Lights” on December 4th, 2020 at the HJGT National Championship in Orlando, FL.
Two ways to Qualify
1. Win a qualifying event in your division.
There will be 30 different qualifying event locations between the months of August – November. Each qualifier will be held the Friday before the HJGT junior golf tournament on the driving range. Each player will get that chance to hit 3 balls for 1 minute and 20 seconds. The player with the longest drive will advance to the Championship event. Players are eligible to participate in as many qualifying events as they want.
2. Earn the most Junior Long Drive (JLD) points throughout the season in your division.
Junior Long Drive points will be awarded for each qualifying event you participate in, and the top points winners from each division at the end of the series will also get invited to the championship.
The first ever Junior Long Championship will be held ‘Under the Lights” at Orange County National Golf Course, the home of the Country’s Largest Driving Range, on December 4th, 2020 before the HJGT National Championship Weekend. This championship event will be limited to 120 players and will feature the winners from each of the 30 qualifying events as well as the JLD points winner in each of the 4 divisions. The seeding for the championship event will be based on the point list and then the longest drive. This event will be a round robin style with each player receiving 5 balls to hit in 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
