Tournaments Scores Stay Low
On Sunday June 12, 2016, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Jacksonville, FL to host the First Coast Junior Open at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club. Sunshine was abundant on the first round, June 13, temperatures reaching high 90s and continued sunshine followed the next day. The HJGT would like to thank the Jacksonville staff for allowing us to host our tournament at a great venue. AJGA Performance Stars were up for grabs this weekend, the top three winners in the Girls 14-18 division were awarded an exemption into the 2016 Tour Championship December 3-4, 2016, and the top ten finishers also received points towards year-end honors. Once that first tee shot sored through the air, the golfers were ready to put their clubs to the ball and make their mark on the course.
Boys 16-18 Division
Matthew Soucinek of Lake City, FL, was the champion of the boys 16-18 division. Soucinek was able to seal up the first place position after shooting 76 and 73. Zach Robinson of Odum, GA, took home the second place trophy after shooting a total of 150 for the tournament. The third place trophy went to Nick Wolf of Murfreesboro, TN. Wolf finished the 54 Hole Challenge with a total score of 151. Jack Mitnitsky was the division’s birdie leader with 6 total. The longest bogey free streak went to Nick Wolf with a total of 19 holes. Each player had an amazing experience, while competing against top competitors across the nation.
Boys 14-15 Division
Sean Anderson of Jonesborough, TN was the champion of the boys 14-15 division. Anderson was able to seal this first place victory by shooting 85, 75. Colin Sirbaugh of Jacksonville, FL was able to take home the second place trophy after shooting a total of 159. The third place trophy went to Eric Poehlman of Green Cove Springs, FL. Poehlman finished the tournament with a total score of 160.
Boys 11-13 Division
Charles Lonsdale of Green Cove Springs, FL took home the first place trophy for the boys 11-13 division. Lonsdale sealed this victory by shooting 80 and 77 for a total of 157. Erik Brumme of Fernandina Beach, FL took home the second place trophy with a total of 160. The third place trophy went to Will McGriff of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL who had a total of 167.
Jack Roberts of St Marys, GA took home the first place trophy for the boys under 10 division. Stephens shot 84 and 86 which led him to seal the victory. Gavin Fleming of Jacksonville, FL took home the second place trophy by shooting a total of 173.
Girls 14-18 Division
Elise Schultz of Pace, FL took home the first place trophy for the girls 14-18 division. Kahn shot 79 and 85 for a total of 164. Alejandra Bedoya of Clermont, FL stole the second place trophy by shooting a total of 166. Alivia Mattiace of Jacksonville, FL shot a total of 185 to steal the third place trophy.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
