Alumni Spotlight - Maho Hayakawa

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour Alumni Spotlight features University of Virginia's Women’s Golf Athlete


Maho Hayakawa.

Maho has been an outstanding player not only on the HJGT tour, but at University of Virginia as well.

Prior playing at University of Virginia, Maho had some impressive results during her high school career. Maho Played in 2016 U.S. Amateur Championship, she was also a medalist at Florida State Golf Association's Girls' Junior Match Play Championship in 2013. Furthermore, Maho tied for eighth at FSGA women's amateur stroke play championship and earned fourth place at FSGA Girls' Junior Championship.

During her high school career, Maho participated in a great number of HJGT Tournaments, and consistently finished with great results. In 2012 Maho played in 2 tournaments with us, finishing third at the Kikkor Golf Series at Hawks Landing. In the following year Maho finished in the top 3 in all 5 tournament she played with the HJGT, claiming second place in 3 of them. Maho ended her career with the HJGT in 2014, when she won third place at the Timacuan Jr. Shootout.

In her Freshman year at the University of Virginia, Maho earned her best finish at Mason Rudolph, placing 30th, shooting 9-over 225. The Mason Rudolph tournament also featured her low round (70) of the season. In her sophomore year, Maho played in the Bryan National Collegiate as an individual, and placed 65th in the only tournament of the season.
