Jimmy Stanger, a Hurricane Junior Golf Tour alumni, is set to compete at next week's PGA Tournament, the Valspar Championship.

Prior playing at the University of Virginia, Jimmy was a four-time All-Hillsborough County first-team selection and has been selected as the Hillsborough County Player of the Year in 2011, 2012 and 2013. As a senior, Jimmy won two district titles and was a regional medalist.
During his high school career, Jimmy participated in a great number of HJGT Tournaments, and consistently finished with great results. In 2012, he claimed the title for the prestigious 54 Mid-Season Championship where he had three day total of (214) ,(72+71+71) finishing two under par. Jimmy led the field in birdies with 13, par 4 performance at 3.87 and par breakers at 25.9%.
In 2011, Jimmy participated in three tournaments with the HJGT and claimed the title for the Hunters Green Junior Shootout. Jimmy came out firing on the first day, and shot an imposing -4 (68) which included five birdies and garnered him the top spot by four strokes after just 18 holes of competition. Jimmy continued his hot streak on the second day, and was able to extend his lead by an additional stroke to finish at -6 (138) in all. Overall, the Tampa native compiled some remarkable statistics including seven total birdies, 26 pars, and one eagle which was actually posted on Tuesday.
Jimmy has been an outstanding player not only on the HJGT tour, but at the University if Virginia as well.
In his Sophomore year at the University of Virginia, Jimmy was the Cavaliers' No. 2 finisher at the NCAA Championship, placing 51st at +6, 222. In his Senior year, Jimmy was selected to both the ACC All-Academic men's golf team and the ACC Honor Roll and was named to the Virginia State Golf Coaches Association's all-state team (first team). Jimmy picked up his first career win with tie for medalist at General Hackler Championship. Most recently Jimmy won the 2016 Southern Amateur Championship in Myrtle Beach and also reached the round of 16 at the 2016 U.S. Amateur Championships.
Jimmy is set to play in next week's PGA Tournament in Tampa and the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour would like to wish him best of luck not only at this tournament but for the rest of his career!
