Catching up with Jackson Saroney
To get some insight, we asked Jackson, “When choosing Penn State, what stood out to you about the golf program at this college over others?”
Jackson told us, “It’s a true college town so I like the vibe of the town. Regarding golf, I have heard amazing things about Coach Leon and Ziccardi and then once I met them in person we saw eye to eye on a lot of golf thoughts.” This college town is unmatched, boasting a deep pride in its athletics program and a relentless pursuit of excellence in both academics and sports.
As Jackson is looking to pursue his degree in business, Penn State was a great fit, as he factored in the academic program when deciding on where to commit.
We spoke with Jackson on his thoughts on how the training and practice facilities at PSU compare to other schools that were recruiting him, as college athletic departments are putting millions into their golf programs these days.
Jackson told us, “The course is right on campus and only a few minutes from my dorm, so it will make it super easy to practice as much as possible and that is what really stuck out to me.” Being so close to the course, Jackson will have optimal time to play and practice.
During Jackson’s time on the Junior Hurricane Tour, there have been many memories and great competitions that he has competed in. The Faldo Hurricane Grand Final was one of Jackson’s favorite experiences. Also, being able to win the College Prep at UK because it is on a “college-level course in a tournament.”
Lastly, now that Jackson has made his decision to play in college, he is one of the people who will be leading the next generation of golfers. With this, we asked Jackson if he had any advice for kids hoping to realize their similar dreams.
Jackson said, “My advice would be not to make excuses. No matter your circumstances there is always something you can do. Also, working as hard as possible. Hard work builds confidence and confidence and confidence gives you the ability to reach your full potential.”
We hope nothing but the best for Jackson and his upcoming college career at Penn State University!
