From March 2-3, 2024, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Tampa Bay Junior Open. Natalie Catapano from Pacific Palisades, CA was the first-place finisher of the Girls 14-18 Division. Catapano scored 76 in both rounds, giving her a combined total of 152 strokes. The 16-year-old IMG Academy student has competed in five events so far in 2024, finishing in the top-10 four times including this win at Tampa Bay.
We had the opportunity to speak with Natalie after her win.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT THE HURRICANE JUNIOR GOLF TOUR?
– “I enjoy the great competition and all the nice girls I get to play with. I also enjoy the live scoring because my family can follow along from across the country.”
FAVORITE MEMORY ON THE TOUR SO FAR?
– “My favorite memory on the tour so far has been winning this past weekend.”
HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A TOURNAMENT?
– “I prepare for a tournament by playing a practice round and taking notes on the course. I also like to take time picking out my outfits so they perfectly match the weather and the occasion. .”
WHAT IS YOUR DREAM COLLEGE AND WHY?
– “My dream college is UCLA because I am from Los Angeles. I love the campus and it would be a dream come true to go to college in my hometown. ”
FAVORITE ATHLETE (ANY SPORT) AND WHY?
– “My favorite athlete is the Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy. He is very talented and hits lots of home runs for the Dodgers. If he ever gets traded I will be very sad.”
