Christopher Parrish of Woolwich Twp, NJ outlasted the heat and his competitors in his first-ever HJGT victory.
The new Hurricane Tour winner captured his first title at the Philadelphia Summer Junior Open at Hickory Valley Golf Club, eclipsing Justin Marcus of Glenmoore, PA by two strokes.

“To receive my first win on HJGT felt satisfying and accomplished and makes me want to play in more and more events,” Parrish said after his victory.
In the first round of the weekend, Parrish opened with a 77 and found himself one shot off the leader Marcus, who shot 76 on Saturday.
On Sunday, with temperatures in the mid-90s, Parrish made 3 birdies on the front nine and posted an impressive 2-over par 74 and secured the victory.
When it comes to his experience on the Hurricane Tour, Parrish enjoys the high-level competition and the variety that HJGT offers. Parrish loves the “atmosphere and the challenging opportunity to rise and be the best in the tournament.”Â
Outside of competition, Parrish focuses on things that need improvement in his game and continues putting in the same effort he puts into tournaments.Â
In the future, Parrish wants to attend a good college for golf combined with exceptional academics. Eventually, Parrish aspires to pursue a career as a professional golfer and aims to secure a position in the business world. Parrish plays golf because he truly loves the game and the time he puts into it allows him to become a better player and an even better person.
