Meet Kristi Dosh – Journalist & Founder

Kristi Dosh
Kristi Dosh – founder of Business of College Sports

Kristi Dosh is a former practicing attorney who is now a sports business contributor for Forbes, founder of Business of College Sports and co-founder of NIL Island. She has written on the business of college sports for more than a decade for outlets such as ESPN, The Washington Post, and Sports Business Journal. Kristi hosts two podcasts, the Business of College Sports podcast for those working in and around college sports, and The Players’ Platform, an NIL podcast she co-hosts with Duke track and field athlete Emily Cole. She also currently teaches name, image and likeness (NIL) courses at the University of Florida in the PR, Journalism and Sport Management programs. Kristi is the author of business of college football book, Saturday Millionaires.

With a passion for sports and a strong writing ability, Kristi aimed to merge her legal background with her love for sports. During her time in law school, she interned with the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), which provided her with an initial exposure to the sports industry. However, it wasn’t until she started blogging about legal issues in sports while working as a finance attorney in Atlanta that she realized the potential to carve a niche for herself in sports writing.

Her dedication to blogging eventually led to writing opportunities with Forbes, where her work reached a wider audience. Through Forbes, Kristi connected with an agent who facilitated her transition to ESPN, where she served as a sports business reporter. Although she never returned to practicing law after her stint at ESPN, Kristi credits her legal background for shaping her analytical thinking and writing skills, which proved invaluable in her career as a writer.

A pivotal moment in Kristi’s career was the development of her personal brand, SportsBizMiss, which helped her stand out in the competitive world of sports blogging. Embracing her identity as a female sports business writer, Kristi leveraged her brand to establish herself as a prominent figure in the industry.

Beyond her personal success, Kristi is passionate about helping others build their personal brands and pursue careers in sports. She emphasizes the importance of showcasing one’s capabilities and understanding the day-to-day responsibilities of the job when applying for positions in the sports industry.

Despite her varied roles and accomplishments, Kristi remains committed to her passion for sports and writing. As SportsBizMiss, she continues to reinvent herself and explore new avenues to pursue her interests, solidifying her position as a leading voice in the sports business community.
