Hurricane Collegiate Tour Opens New Doors For College Golfers

Hurricane Collegiate Golf Tour

The Hurricane Collegiate Golf Tour (HCGT) is back for 2025, offering golfers aged 18 to 23 a chance to compete at a high level while sharpening their skills. Designed to provide a seamless transition from junior golf to the collegiate levels, this tour is set to become a cornerstone of competitive golf for young athletes.

Bridging the Gap Between Junior and Collegiate Golf

The Hurricane Collegiate Golf Tour serves as a bridge for players moving beyond junior golf. With the same professionalism and attention to detail that have defined the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT), which is now in its 18th season, the new Collegiate Tour offers an elevated experience tailored to this next stage of competition.

“We’re excited to provide this unique platform for college golfers and HJGT alumni,” said Mario Conte, CEO of the HJGT. “Our mission is to continue supporting players as they transition from junior golf and into their college and professional golf careers. This tour is a testament to our commitment to growing the game and elevating the experience at every level.”

A Unique Opportunity for Players

The Hurricane Collegiate Golf Tour stands out for its focus on creating opportunities for collegiate players to stay competitive during the off-season. By competing against peers of similar ages and skill levels, participants can refine their games in a challenging yet supportive environment.

Katelyn Chipman, a coach at Grand Valley State University in Michigan, highlighted the benefits of the collegiate tour, noting,

“We do encourage our golfers to play in as many summer golf tournaments as their budget and schedule allow them. Some girls travel home and play in events, some have summer jobs, and some play in 5-9 events each summer break.

Like many college coaches, Chipman was in Orlando in December scouting talented players at the HJGT National Championship Weekend.

“Based on the professionalism I witnessed, I would highly recommend Hurricane events to players that are in the transition of competing at a higher collegiate level. Their collegiate series is competitive at the next level, as evidenced by the yardages, high-level golf courses, and 54-hole tournament events.  I will forward this summer golf series to our team and advocate that this is a well-run tournament series,” said Chipman.

The tour’s free membership model ensures accessibility for college aged-players, while its professional tournament setup mirrors the standards expected in collegiate golf. Prizes, including tour credits and awards, add further incentive for collegiate participants.

Prestigious Venues and Competitive Fields

The 2025 schedule features 26 events hosted at championship-level venues across the country, highlighted by the likes of LPGA International Club in Daytona Beach, FL, Seaview Marriott Golf Resort in Galloway, NJ; Palmetto Dunes in Hilton Head Island, SC; and TPC Treviso Bay in Naples, FL. These courses provide the ideal setting for high-caliber competition and a taste of what it’s like to play at the highest level (see 2025 Collegiate Tour schedule).

Zane Aiken, who competed in the collegiate event last summer at Reunion, FL, shared his experience:

“I loved the collegiate event at Reunion, and I loved Hurricane’s junior events as well. It’s difficult to find good college events for a decent price nowadays, and the Hurricane college series really helps with that. I plan on coming back to the event in Orlando again this year,” said Aiken.

“Hurricane events provide a great competitive atmosphere while still making people feel welcomed. They are consistently my favorite events to play in. Even when I play poorly, I still have a great time.”

Supporting the Growth of Collegiate Golf

With the Collegiate Tour, the HJGT continues its mission to support aspiring golfers at every stage of their journey. By offering a platform for college athletes to compete, the tour not only nurtures talent but also reinforces the values of discipline, sportsmanship, and perseverance that define the sport.
