Out in Massachusetts, there is a junior golfer who has placed in the top 4 of every tournament she has played in. Ryley Regan has three sisters who also love to golf, so you could call it a family affair when it comes to being on the links. When she isn’t golfing, she loves to downhill ski and Irish step dance. What a combination. Who else do you know that can downhill ski, Irish step dance, and golf at an elite level?
Regan is 13 years old and from Granby, Massachusetts. She is currently a 7th grader that is homeschooled, which she says gives her the flexibility to travel and play golf. Ryley told us that she has been playing golf since she was 7 and entered her first tournament when she was 9.
Ryley Regan On The Hurricane Tour
This year on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour, she’s finished first in three tournaments and fourth once. In her first tournament at Hartford, she took first place by shooting a 161, which was good enough for +17 and 8 strokes ahead of the second-place finisher. Ryley took first place in the Boston Junior Open, shooting 154 – good enough for +10 in the tournament and 6 strokes ahead of the second-place finisher. Most recently, she won the Hartford Junior Open, shooting +14 at The Ranch Golf Club.
Ryley said that her favorite part of being on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour is the ability “to play longer yardages and every tournament is multi-day. I also like the flexibility of being able to compete in a wide variety of events and locations.”
After Ryley’s win at the Boston Junior Open, she told us that “this most recent win felt awesome! The weather was a big challenge, but it felt amazing to grind it out and finish with a W.”
She played well and deserved to get the win. She prepared for the tournament by “putting in a lot of short game work and making sure my yardages are dialed in.”
In the future, Ryley wants to “compete in D1 college golf, and then we will see where that takes me. As far as career, I’d love to play golf forever.” With the way that she is playing right now, the path is laid for her to follow her dreams.
