Eligibility for HJGT Girls 14-18 Division

Girls ages 14-18 are eligible to participate in the HJGT Girls 14-18 division. A player’s age division is determined by his or her age during round two. A player may move up during the middle of the season. For example, if a player is 13 and turns 14 during the middle of the season, she will play the remainder of the season from the 14-18 division. Points do not roll over to another division. Players will be permitted to earn points in two age divisions.

Players that become officially enrolled and begin attending college are no longer eligible to compete in any division, regardless of age.

Heritage Isles Golf & Country Club
At Heritage Isles Golf & Country Club, separation was measured in inches and one-shot margins. Alana Sims made it count. The Sandy Springs, Georgia native opened with a 78 and closed with a composed 75 to finish at +9 (153), capturing the Girls 14–18 title at the Tampa Bay Junior Open. The final round began with minimal separation at the top. Zara Staley of Sarasota finished just one stroke back at +10 (154) after rounds of 78-76. Lara Bakhour, representing Beirut, Lebanon, secured third at +11 (155), while Georgia Grace Spence followed at +12 (156). Four players finished within three shots of the lead. Heritage Isles demands precision into guarded greens and disciplined decision-making around water-lined corridors. With scoring opportunities limited, patience becomes the difference. Sims didn’t force it. She avoided the penalty areas that often decide this course, trusted conservative lines when needed, and converted enough mid-range putts to protect her margin. The division reflected HJGT’s global footprint — players from Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, Taiwan, South Korea, and Puerto Rico joined competitors from across the United States — but the championship ultimately came down to composure on the closing stretch. At Heritage Isles, one mistake can swing the leaderboard. Sims avoided it — and that was enough.

Lonnie Poole Golf Course
At Lonnie Poole Golf Course, composure carries weight. Magdalene Ford carried it across 36 demanding holes. The St. Petersburg, Florida native opened with an 87 before closing with a 93 to finish at +36 (180), securing the Girls 14–18 title at the College Prep Event at NC State. Lonnie Poole’s elevated greens and tightly mown runoff areas demand precise approach play and disciplined distance control. Miss on the wrong side, and recovery becomes delicate. Over two rounds, the course consistently exposed aggressive lines and punished loose wedges. Ford managed the test better. Scout Schermerhorn finished second at +80 (224), battling through a venue that offers little margin for error and rewards patience above all else. This wasn’t about low scoring. It was about navigating a collegiate-caliber course under structured tournament conditions. The College Prep Series setting elevates expectations, and Lonnie Poole delivers a layout that mirrors next-level demands. Ford handled the challenge. At NC State, that resilience was enough.
