Eligibility for HJGT Boys 14-15

Boys ages 14-15 are eligible to participate in the HJGT Boys 14-15 division. A player’s age division is determined by their age during round two. A player may move up during the middle of the season. As an example, if a player is 15 and turns 16 during the middle of the season, they will play the remainder of the season from the 16-18 division. Points do not roll over to another division. Players are permitted to earn points in two age divisions. Once a player has begun officially attending college, he will no longer be able to compete, regardless of age.

PHOENIX, Ariz. — Sawyer Thompson emerged on top in the Boys 14–15 division at the Spring Break Desert Junior Open, finishing with a two-day total of 21-over 165 to capture the championship at Union Hills Country Club. Thompson opened the tournament with an 80 and followed it with an 85 in the final round to secure a two-shot victory. While scoring proved difficult across the division, Thompson’s steady play over both rounds allowed him to maintain control of the leaderboard and hold off the field. Andrew DeGrassi finished second at 23-over 167 after posting rounds of 81 and 86, staying within striking distance throughout the weekend but ultimately falling just short of the title. Lincoln Blue Eyes placed third at 29-over 173 with rounds of 86 and 87. The Boys 14–15 division reflected the overall challenge presented by Union Hills Country Club. The course demanded patience and disciplined shot-making, and the players who avoided costly mistakes were able to climb the leaderboard. Thompson managed the course best across both rounds, turning consistent play into a championship performance. His victory added another strong showing to the Spring Break Desert Junior Open, as the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour continued to provide competitive opportunities for junior golfers to test their game on demanding courses.
