The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Ravenna, Ohio on May 24-26 for the College Prep Series at Kent State, hosted by Windmill Lakes Golf Club. This three day 54 hole tournament featured fantastic weather conditions which in the end challenged and tested each of our competitors in the 83 player field. Saturday and Sunday’s rounds began promptly at 10:30am with a single tee start followed by Monday’s slightly earlier final round start that began at 9:30am. Winners in all divisions received an automatic bid into the 2014 Tour Championship on December 6-7, as well as the Mid Season Invitational on June 22-24. Top 15 finishers received points towards year end honors which include state teams, All HJGT teams, and the Hurricane Cup as well as points towards the Junior Golf Scoreboard Ranking. Boys 15-18 age Division After three days of fierce competition Anton Krecic of Columbia Station, Ohio was the Boys 15-18 Age Division Champion after he scored six shots lower than the second place player. Krecic fired a first round score of 69 followed by a 77 in the second round. He concluded his tournament play with a final round score of 72, which brought his total score to 218. Krecic also had the second most birdies over three days, with a total of 10 for the tournament. Zachery Ottman of Penfield, Ohio finished second this weekend, after he logged a 75 in the first round followed by a second round score of 72. He finished his final round with a score of 72 bringing his tournament total to 219. Third place finisher Harrison Vonderau of Columbia Station, Ohio had a 74 in round one, then proceeded to shoot a 72 in the second round, and concluded his tournament play with a 75, which brought his three day total score to 221. Girls 15-18 age Division Canton, Ohio’s own Landrie Grace was the Girls 15-18 Age Division Champion, after she carded seven shots lower than the second place tournament finisher. Grace’s tournament win came after she scored a 76 in the first round, followed by a 72 second round, and concluded with a 67 which brought her total score to a 215. This was the lowest tournament score amongst all age divisions. Grace also fired the most birdies in the tournament with a total of eight. Jacinta Pikunas of Youngstown, Ohio finished second this weekend with a tournament score of 229. She shot a 78 in the first round, followed by a 77 on day two, and concluded with a 74 in the final round. Madison Butler was the third place finisher this weekend after she carded an 83 in the first round, and on day two she fired her tournament low of 74, concluding with a 77 in the final round which brought her total to 234. Boys 11-14 Charlie Toman of Chardon, Ohio was the Boys 11-14 Age Division Champion after he fired 17 shots lower than the second place competitor this weekend. Toman scored a 69 in the first round, followed by a 74 in the second, and concluded with a 78 to bring his tournament total to 221. In addition to his first place finish, Toman shot the most birdies in his age division with a total of nine. Second place finisher Ben Foltz of Solon, Ohio fired a tournament score of 238 after he carded an 80 in the first round, followed by an 82 in the second round. Foltz concluded his tournament play with a 76 in the final round. Paul Harris of Ravenna, Ohio finished third this weekend after he fired a tournament total of 240.
