College Prep Series at NC State, August 11-12, 2012James Clark stays Even, Bodfield bounces back

Raleigh, NC (August 12, 2012)- The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to the home of the North Carolina State Wolfpack golf team, to host the College Prep Series at the challenging, Loonie Poole Golf Course. The tournament featured over 40+ players from North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Florida, Nebraska, Michigan, and even Canada. There were Junior Golf Scoreboard, South Carolina Junior Golf Association, Tarheel Golf Association points up for grabs and the winner of each division received an automatic bid to the HJGT Tour Championship at the end of the season. The weather on Saturday was overcast all day and Sunday was sunny but both days were spectacular for golf. Our Boys 15-18 Division was won with consistency by James Clark from Columbus, GA by scoring Even for the tournament (72+72). Clark in the first round birdied 3 in a row and even posted an eagle on hole number 9 on the Sunday round. James also led the division in birdies (8), par 4 performance (3.94), par 5 performance (4.60). Runner up was Alex Smalley from Wake Forest, NC shooting a two day total of 145 (72+73). Alex also posted an eagle in the first round. Smalley led the division with most pars or better at 80.6%, he also led in the par 3 performances with 2.70%. There was a three way tie for third between Gregory Henion form Matthews, NC (82+71), Austin Harrill from Hickory, NC (74+79), and Dylan Lukes from Chapel Hill, NC (76+77). Henion came in second with most birdies with 7 and most par breakers right at 19.4%. He came runner up in the par 4’s (4.25). Harrill came in 3rd in his division with most pars (19) and par 5’s (5.00). Dylan Lukes came in 3rd in his division for most pars or better (72.2%). Lukes was 2nd in par 3 performance (2.90) and 4th in par 5’s (5.20). Our Girls 15-18 Division was won by Kennedy Bodfield from Saint Catharines, Ontario with 9 over for the tournament (78+75). Bodfield let her division in birdies (5), most par breakers (13.9%), par 4 performances (4.06), and par 5 performances (5.40). Natalia Segura from Kennesaw, GA ended up in 2nd place with a two day total of 155 (74+81). Natalia put up an impressive 74 to lead at the end of day 1 but cooled off the second day. She led her division in par 3’s(3.00), most pars (23), and came runner up in par 4’s (4.44), and par 5 performances (5.40). Brittany LaPadula came in 3rd place with a tournament total of 167 (82+85). LaPadula came runner up in her division with most birdies (2), most par breakers (5.6%). Brittany also came in 3rd in par 4’s (4.62), and par 5’s (5.80). Our Boys 11-14 Division, Vijay Mishra from North Mrytle Beach, SC took home the 1st place trophy with a two day total of 151 (78+73). In the second round Vijay shot 3 under on the front 9, which set him in great position for 1st. Mishra took most birdies in his division with 6, as well as most par breakers with 16.7%. He came runner up in par 3’s (3.00), par 5’s (5.30), and most pars or better with 72.2%. Anderson Allgeyer from Pinehurst, Nebraska came in 2nd place with 152 (74+78). Allgeyer came 1st in his division with par 4’s (4.00), most pars with 27, and most pars or better (80.6%). Anderson came in 3rd for par 5’s average with 5.50. Coming in 3rd place on the leadersboard was Raleigh’s own Michael McMahon who scored a two day total of 158 (74+84). McMahon came in 1st in his division with par 5 average of 5.10 and came in second for most pars with 23. Michael came in 3rd with par 3 average with 3.10. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the southeast, with stops in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.
