The HJGT is excited to announce the inaugural HJGT Hurricane Cup, an annual event featuring teams of top junior golfers from Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Ohio representing their respective home states. There will also be an additional team, to make 9 total teams competing for the Hurricane Cup.The final team will be composed of point leaders representing one of the 42 states not mentioned above, as well as the top international competitors. The Hurricane Cup will be November 30th – December 1st. Each team will be made up of four boys and four girls from the 15-18 divisions as well as two boys and two girls from the 11-14 divisions. Players who have earned the most points throughout the 2013 season will be selected to play and represent their state. Players can begin to accumulate points at the very first event on the 2013 schedule and the race will end the weekend of November 16-17. To accumulate points and become eligible for the Hurricane Cup, players must be a member of the HJGT. The Retreat Course at Sea Island Golf Resort in Sea Island, GA has been selected as the site for this special event. The Retreat Course, designed by Sea Island resident Davis Love III, is one of the top golf resorts in the world. Players will be pampered all weekend and showered with gifts. The event will kickoff with a welcome dinner on Friday evening followed by year-end player awards. The format of the event on day one will be nine holes of two-man best-ball and nine holes of alternate shot with states taking their top four of six scores. Day two will feature 18 holes of stroke play with states taking their top eight of twelve scores. The state with the lowest two-day total will take home the inaugural Hurricane Cup. The event is sure to feature some great golf with many of the top golfers in the southeastern U.S. sure to make the teams.
