From Wednesday July 31st through Thursday August 1st, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Xingzhi Sports College Prep at Duke. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau boys 10 and Under, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18 and Justin Rose Girl 13 and Under division.
Torin Dezzani of Honolulu, HI was able to take home first place honors after rounds of 72 and 73. Dezzani had a total of 145 strokes for the weekend to win by a one-shot margin over his closest competitor. Panop Norasing of Orlando, FL had a final round 71 on Thursday to finish at a total of 146 strokes and claim solo runner-up honors. Rounding up the top-three was Derek McGlaughlin of Elizabethtown, PA with weekend totals of 147 strokes to claim third-place honors for the division.
Miller Carr of Suffolk, VA was able to seal his victory with rounds of 82 and 74, making 3 birdies on Thursday to finish at a two-day total of 156 strokes. Pannawit Leelalumlert of Orlando, FL claimed runner-up honors with a total of 157 shots for the weekend and a first round 77. Rounding up the top three was Run Ni of Orlando, FL with a total of 159 strokes for third place honors.
Zachary Olivar-Castro of Phillipines was able to seal his victory with rounds of 71 and 69 with a total of 140 strokes. Olivar-Castro made 5 birdies and an eagle the last day to win by an impressive margin over his closest competitor. Clark Xander Goboy of Chesapeake, VA shot a total of 155 strokes with consistent rounds to claim solo runner-up honors for the division. Rounding up the top-three were Ryan Leach of Virginia and Hunter Justice of Cornelius, NC with totals of 160 strokes to claim third-place honors.
Yourong Chu of China claimed first place honors after shooting rounds of 78 and 80 to win by a one-shot margin over her closest competitor. Chu shot a total of 158 strokes and made 2 birdies and an eagle over the week to win. Rachel Hicks of Grapevine, TX and Phoebe Hsiao of Taiwan had totals of 165 shots to claim tie runner-up honors and round up the division.
Yongxin Tian of China claimed first place honors after shooting consistent rounds to win by a five-shot margin over her closest competitor. Tian had a weekend total of 181 strokes with 2 birdies over the week to win. Shelby Herbert of Charlotte Hall, MD had a total of 186 strokes to claim solo runner-up honors for the week.
Boys 10 Under
Cash Scerri of Wrightsville Beach, NC was our lone competitor for the division, with rounds of 84 and 89 he was able to seal victory. Scerri stayed consistent both days, and finished with a total of 173 shots to win.
