Whistling Straits Junior Open

From July 14-15, 2021 the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Whistling Straits Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of six divisions that included the Boys 16-18 Division, Boys 14-15 Division, Boys 11-13 Division, Boys Under 10 Division, Girls 14-18 Division, and Girls Under 13 Division.

Boys 16-18

Whistling Straits Junior Open

Will Robinson from Greer, SC was the first-place finisher this weekend. Robinson brought in scores of 78 and 75 for a combined total of 153 (+9) for the weekend. Isaac Embry from Crown Point, IN, Mason Schmidtke from Sheboygan, WI, and Will Summers from Richfield, WI all tied for second place with a score of 155 (+11). Embry brought in round scores of 76 and 79, Schmidtke tallied scores of 80 and 75, and Summers brought in scores of 81 and 74 respectivly.

Whistling Straits Junior Open

Tyson Sparks from Muskego, WI was the first-place finisher this weekend. Sparks brought in scores of 72 and 72 for a combined total of 144 (E) for the weekend. Alex Weiss from Middleton, WI was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 82 and 76 for a combined total of 158 (+14) Mac Drake from Sioux Falls, SD finished the top three honors with scores of 89 and 85 for a weekend total of 174 (+30).

Finley Gastrau from St. Gallen, Switzerland was the first-place finisher this weekend. Gastrau brought in scores of 73 and 78 for a combined total of 151 (+7) for the weekend. Jacob Holzer from Louisville, KY was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 79 and 81 for a combined total of 160 (+16). Chase Larson from Edina, MN finished the top three honors with scores of 93 and 81 for a weekend total of 174 (+30).

Emily Gastrau from Wauwatosa, WI was the first-place finisher this weekend. Gastrau brought in scores of 106 and 104 for a combined total of 210 (+66) for the weekend. Maggie Zeiger from Chicago, IL was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 116 and 107 for a combined total of 223 (+79). Elizabeth Zimmerman from Urbandale, IA finished the top three honors with scores of 124 and 119 for a weekend total of 243 (+99).

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
