From August 29-30, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Virginia Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau Division Boys Under 10, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and Justin Rose Division Girls Under 13.
Boys 16-18

James Thomas IV from Fairfax, VA was the first-place finisher this weekend. Thomas brought in scores of 72 and 74 for a combined total of 146 for the weekend. Dylan Kochis from Exton, PA was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 76 and 71 for a combined total of 147. Drew Carlin from Ashburn, VA finished the top three honors with scores of 74 and 74 for a weekend total of 148.
Boys 14-15

Sam Hahn from Richmond, VA was the first-place finisher this weekend. Hahn brought in scores of 73 and 73 for a combined total of 146 for the weekend. Cooper Vance from Leesburg, VA was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 74 and 74 for a combined total of 148. Hayden Quinn from Leesburg, VA finished the top three honors with scores of 79 and 73 for a weekend total of 152.
Boys 11-13

Jack Borg from Bethesda, MD was the first-place finisher this weekend. Borg brought in scores of 74 and 71 for a combined total of 145 for the weekend. Jason Park from Fulton, MD and Joseph Morinelli from Crozet, VA both tied as the runners up for the weekend. Park had scores of 74 and 77 for a combined total of 151 and Morinelli had scores of 77 and 74 for a weekend total of 151.
Girls 14-18

Emma Chen from Derwood, MD was the first-place finisher this weekend. Chen brought in scores of 72 and 72 for a combined total of 144 for the weekend. Christina Cupelli from Fairfax, VA was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 77 and 70 for a combined total of 147. Mary Grace Dunigan from Kennett Square, PA finished the top three honors with scores of 79 and 72 for a weekend total of 151.
Girls U13

Marina Lin from McLean, VA was the first-place finisher this weekend. Lin had scores of 82 and 90 for a combined total of 172. Madison Rizzo from Leesburg, VA was the second place finisher for the weekend. Rizzo brought in scores of 86 and 86 for a combined total of 172. Leela Kenwood from Bethesda, MD finished as the runner up with scores of 81 and 92 for a weekend total of 173.
Boys 10 Under

Daniel Park from Fulton, MD was the first-place finisher this weekend. Park brought in scores of 75 and 72 for a combined total of 147 for the weekend. Colton Rodgers from Great Falls, VA was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 75 and 73 for a combined total of 148. Landon O’Hara from Severn, MD finished the top three honors with scores of 76 and 76 for a weekend total of 152.

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
