From Saturday August 3rd through Sunday August 4th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Union County Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18 and Justin Rose Girl 13 and Under division.
Brian Murdock of Wesley Chapel, FL was able to take home first place honors after a final round 74. Murdock had a total of 150 strokes for the weekend to win by a one-shot margin over his closest competitor. Masaichi Otake of Phillippines had a final round 75 on Sunday to finish at a total of 151 strokes and claim solo runner-up honors. Rounding up the top-three was Benjamin Yap of Malaysia with a weekend total of 152 strokes to claim tie third-place honors.
Elliot Park of Cranford, NJ was able to seal his victory with rounds of 76 and 79, making 2 birdies on Saturday to finish at a two-day total of 155 strokes. Ziming Qiu of China claimed runner-up honors with a total of 156 shots for the weekend and a final round 72. Rounding up the top three was Luke Block of Bahamas with a weekend total of 158 strokes for third place honors.
Angad Manaise of Stamford, CT was able to seal his victory with a final round of 77 and a total of 156 strokes. Manaise made 3 birdies the last day to win by a six-shot margin over his closest competitor. Amos Choe of New York, NY shot a total of 162 strokes with consistent weekend rounds to claim solo runner-up honors for the division. Rounding up the top-three was Prithvi Dixit of Redwood City, CA with a weekend total of 166 strokes to claim solo third-place honors.
Janelle Valera of Piscataway, NJ claimed first place honors after shooting rounds of 71 and 75 to win by an impressive margin over her closest competitor. Valera shot a total of 146 strokes and made 4 birdies over the weekend to win. Emily Luu of Mullica, NJ and Eden Richmond of Princeton, NJ had weekend totals of 158 shots to tie for runner-up honors and round up the division.
Emily Renoff of Glen Ridge, NJ claimed first place honors after shooting rounds of 79 and 76 to win by an impressive margin over her closest competitor. Renoff had a weekend total of 155 strokes with 3 birdies the last day to win. Renna Chang of Jericho, NY had a total of 172 strokes to claim solo runner-up honors for the week. Rounding up the top three was Samantha Loninger of Crosswicks, NJ with a weekend total of 180 strokes to claim third-place honors.
