From Monday July 22nd through Tuesday July 23rd, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the TPC Sugarloaf Junior Open presented by Putting Arc. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau boys 10 and Under, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18 and Justin Rose Girl 13 and Under division.
Zach Vaniman of Marietta, GA was able to win the division on a three-way playoff against his closest competitors. Following him was Ryan McHugh of St. Simons Island, GA claiming runner-up honors after the playoff as well. And rounding up the divison was Ballard Harris of Louisville, KY with third-place honors. All three players had weekend totals of 147 shots and consistent weekend rounds.
Rob Ferris of Roswell, GA was able to seal his victory with rounds of 78 and 71, making 3 birdies on Tuesday to finish at a two-day total of 149 strokes. Nicholas Schwendiman of Suwanee, GA claimed runner-up honors with a total of 157 shots for the weekend. Rounding up the top three were Alex Gray of Dacula, GA and Cole Humphrey of McDonough, GA with totals of 158 strokes for tie for third place honors.
Brody McQueen of Kennesaw, GA was able to seal his victory with a final round of 67 and a total of 140 strokes. McQueen made 7 birdies and an eagle the last day to win by a three-stroke margin over his closest competitor. Parth Kumar shot a total of 143 shots with rounds of 71 and 72 to claim solo runner-up honors for the division. Rounding up the top-three was Anthony Purcea of Buford, GA with a weekend total of 144 strokes to claim solo third-place honors.
Bridget Hoang of Lawrenceville, GA claimed first place honors after shooting a last round 74 to win by a margin of 3 strokes over her closest competitor. Hoang shot a total of 147 strokes and made 2 birdies the last day to win. Michelle Cao of Duluth, GA and Kathryn Robinson of American Canyon, CA shot a total of 161 strokes to claim tie runner-up honors and round up the division.
Camryn Coffield of Hamilton, GA claimed first place honors after shooting rounds of 86 and 79 to win by a one shot margin over her closest competitor. Coffield had a weekend total of 165 strokes and a birdie the last day to win. Alisa Pressley of Flowery Branch, GA had a total of 168 strokes to claim solo runner-up honors for the week with a final round 78. Rounding up our top-three was Tzuyun Hong of Taiwan with a weekend total of 178 strokes.
Boys 10 Under
Cooper Smith of Jasper, GA was our lone competitor for the division, with rounds of 76 and 78 he was able to seal victory. Smith stayed consistent both days, and finished with a total of 154 shots.
