TPC Deere Run Summer Junior Open

From Wednesday July 24th through Thursday July 25ththe Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the TPC Deere Run Summer Jr Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18 and Justin Rose Girl 13 and Under division.

TPC Deere Run Summer Junior Open

Echo Wu of Surrey, CA was able to take home first place honors after a final round 74. Wu had a total of 149 strokes for the week to win by a five-shot margin over his closest competitor. Ian Roach of Hennepin, IL had a final round 76 on Thursday to finish at a total of 154 strokes and claim solo runner-up honors. Rounding up the top-three was Leo Brunk of Newtown, PA with a total of 155 strokes to claim third-place honors.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

TPC Deere Run Summer Junior Open

Nick Matheney of Mount Pleasant, IA was our lone competitor for the division. With consistent rounds of 89 both days, he was able to take home the victory. Matheney was able to finish at a two-day total of 178 as well.

Ernie Els 11-13

TPC Deere Run Summer Junior Open

Bubba Chapman of St. Louis, MO was able to seal his victory with a final round of 79 and a weekend total of 167 strokes. Chapman made two birdies the last day to win by a one-shot  margin over his closest competitor. Ethan Blomme of Bettendorf, IA and Liam Lodding of Huntley, IL shot  totals of 168 shots to claim tied runner-up honors and round up the division.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

TPC Deere Run Summer Junior Open

Mandi Granato of Plainfield, IL claimed first place honors after shooting a final round 79 to win by an impressive margin over her closest competitor. Granato  shot a total of 159 strokes and a birdie the last day to win. London Wille of Van Meter, IA shot a total of 175 strokes to claim solo runner-up honors. And rounding up the top-three was Shae Bernhardt of Waukee, IA with a total of 196 shots to finish in third place.

Sophia Gold of Quincy, IL  was our lone competitor for the division. With consistent rounds of for the week of 94 and 95, she was able to take home the victory. Gold was able to finish at a two-day total of 189 as well.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
