Tennessee Summer Jr. Open

From Saturday July 6th through Sunday July 7th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Tennessee Summer Junior Open.  The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of four divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, and the Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18.

Boys 16-18

Tennessee Summer Jr. Open

Owen Doherty of Alpharetta, GA took the first-round lead after scoring a 73 on Saturday. Doherty remained at the top of the leaderboard all weekend, with a final round of 70 and winning by a margin of 8 strokes. Trey Rouse finished in second place with rounds of 78 and 73 over the weekend for runner up honors. And rounding up our top-three were Grant Burks of Chattanooga, TN and Carson Johnson of Signal Mountain, TN with weekend totals of 154 strokes.

Boys 14-15

Tennessee Summer Jr. Open

Ryan Porterfield of Cumming, GA was able to seal his victory with rounds of 78 and 75 over the weekend, making a birdie of the last hole to finish at a two-day total of 153 strokes. Conner Sharp of Chattanooga, TN claimed runner-up honors with a total of 155 shots and consistent weekend rounds of 77 and 78. Rounding up the top three was Happy Gilmore of Bloomfield, IN with a total of 156 strokes for the tournament.

Tennessee Summer Jr. Open

Luke Beadles of Nolensville, TN shot consistent weekend rounds to finish with a total of 165 strokes and claim victory. Beadles made a birdie on the 11th hole on Sunday to win by a margin of 11 shots. Jackson Hope of Dallas, GA was able to claim solo runner-up honors with a weekend total of 176 strokes.

Tennessee Summer Jr. Open

Christina Surcey of Cartersville, GA claimed first-place honors with a total of 157 shots. Surcey was able to seal her victory with rounds of 78 and 79 to win by a ten-shot margin. Stephanie Xian of Signal Mountain, TN shot a total of 167 shots to claim solo runner-up honors. Rounding up the top three was Preslee Yoder of Chattanooga, TN with a weekend total of 169 shots to claim third-place honors.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 8-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The tour’s vision is to provide superb hospitality and make every event a memorable one. With play open to both males and females, nearly every junior golfer is eligible to participate on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Currently the HJGT is the largest multi-day junior golf tour in the United States hosting more 2-day nationally ranked events than any other tour. The HJGT has been able to achieve this goal by running the most professional events and providing an exceptional value to all of our players and families over the last 14 years.

Based out of Orlando, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the country. In 2021, the HJGT will conduct events in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Canada. Juniors will compete in 1 of 6 divisions which are: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys under 10, Girls 14-18, and Girls Under 13. Click here to view approximate yardages for each division. The HJGT season is based on a calendar year and players earn points throughout the season towards year end honors beginning December 31, 2021.
