Tampa Bay Winter Junior Open

From December 10-11, 2022, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Tampa Bay Winter Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Boys 16-18 Division, Boys 14-15 Division, Boys 11-13 Division, Girls 14-18 Division, and Girls Under 13 Division.

Gavin Clutts from Hazard, KY was the first-place finisher this weekend. Clutts brought in scores of 72 and 70 for a combined total of 142 for the weekend. Tommaso Begali from Wesley Chapel, FL was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 72 and 73 for a combined total of 145. Luke Neville from Western Springs, IL tied for second with scores of 70 and 75 for a weekend total of 145.

Junzhe (Dylan) Wang from Bradenton, FL was the first-place finisher this weekend. Wang brought in scores of 69 and 67 for a combined total of 136 for the weekend. William Lisle from Tai Tam, Hong Kong was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 70 and 73 for a combined total of 143. Jordan Paulshock from Wesley Chapel, FL finished the top three honors with scores of 79 and 70 for a weekend total of 149.

Yuma Nemoto from Chiba, Japan  was the first-place finisher this weekend. Nemoto brought in scores of 64 and 64 for a combined total of 128 for the weekend. Kayden Jae from Bradenton, FL was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 75 and 75 for a combined total of 150. Jose Carlos Lopez Lay from Guaynabo, Puerto Rico finished the top three honors with scores of 88 and 84 for a weekend total of 172.

Islamiya Abeldi from Almaty, Kazakhstan was the first-place finisher this weekend. Abeldi brought in scores of 67 and 74 for a combined total of 141 for the weekend. Helen Young from Clarification, MD was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 76 and 76 for a combined total of 152. Samantha Loninger from Crosswicks, NJ finished the top three honors with scores of 76 and 77 for a weekend total of 153.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 8-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The tour’s vision is to provide superb hospitality and make every event a memorable one. With play open to both males and females, nearly every junior golfer is eligible to participate on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Currently the HJGT is the largest multi-day junior golf tour in the United States hosting more 2-day nationally ranked events than any other tour. The HJGT has been able to achieve this goal by running the most professional events and providing an exceptional value to all of our players and families over the last 14 years.

Based out of Orlando, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the country. In 2021, the HJGT will conduct events in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Canada. Juniors will compete in 1 of 6 divisions which are: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys under 10, Girls 14-18, and Girls Under 13. Click here to view approximate yardages for each division. The HJGT season is based on a calendar year and players earn points throughout the season towards year end honors beginning December 31, 2021.
