St. Louis Junior Challenge at Normandie Golf Club

For the weekend of Saturday, September 16th, 2017 the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to the oldest public golf course west of the Mississippi River. The St. Louis Junior challenge hosted by Normandie Golf Club served as a proving ground for talented young golfers. Great course conditions and picture perfect weather allowed for a great, competitive event from start to finish. The HGJT would like to thank the amazing staff members of Normandie Golf Club for their hospitality and ensuring wonderful playing conditions for our field.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

St. Louis Junior Challenge at Normandie Golf Club

Thomas Proctor is our Boys 16-18 Champion. The Little Rock native was able to showcase his skills in an impressive outing. Shooting 75 on Saturday and 74 on Sunday, he was able to edge out the rest of the division and take home the first place trophy. Bennett Tiefenbrunn, of Sullivan, MO took home second place honors with a two round score of 154. He was able to overcome an 81 on Saturday to come back and shoot 73 on Sunday. In third place for the 16-18 Division we had a 2-way tie. Raymond Winter of St. Louis, MO, and Tommy Alferman of Washington, MO, each shot 155 for the tournament. A tight competition coupled with great play from all competitors provided for a fantastic finish by this division.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

St. Louis Junior Challenge at Normandie Golf Club

Our Boys 14-15 Champion is Tyler Linenbroker. With a two round score of 153 (79–74), he was able to edge out the competitive field with an impressive display of skill and sportsmanship. Ian Blome of Weldon Spring, MO was able to take home second place with a 79 on Saturday and an 82 on Sunday. Third place was claimed by Riley Burns, who shot a combined score of 167(82-85).

Ernie Els 11-13

St. Louis Junior Challenge at Normandie Golf Club

Kal Kolar is our Boys 11-13 Champion. The St. Louis native was able to string together two magnificent performances in an effort that produced the top two round scores of the tournament. With a 69 on Saturday and a 72 on Sunday, Kolar was able to finish the event as the only golfer under par at -1. Trip Sanfelippo, of Wildwood, MO, was able to string together two impressive days of his own with scores of 78 and 83 on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Those scores were enough to propel him into second place.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Our Girls 14-18 division Champion is Misheel Sodgerel, of St. Louis, MO. With scores of 91 and 98 on Saturday and Sunday respectively, Sodgerel was able to navigate around the golf course with ease in an effort that produced a first place trophy.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
