On Saturday, July 28 – Sunday, July 29, 2018, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the St. Louis Junior Open #2 in Eureka, Missouri. The two-day, twenty-seven-hole (due to weather) tournament held at the Aberdeen Golf Course consisted of players from five of our divisions including the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division, Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division, Bryson DeChambeau Boys U10 Division, Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division, and the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division.
Boys 16-18

Tyler Dawson of St. Louis became champion in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division after winning the scorecard playoff against now second-place finisher, Grant Mahaney of Bristow. Tyler had a low scoring average of 74 and tied Grant for the lowest Par-3 average in their division at 3.2. Both Tyler and Grant finished the twenty-seven holes at +3. Third-place finisher was Michael Bugyis of Des Peres, Missouri who made 115 strokes for a +7 finish.
Boys 14-15

In the Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division, Drew Higgins of Jefferson City, Missouri became champion totaling +9 through the twenty-seven holes. He made two birdies and tied for the lowest Par-3 average of 3.3. Second-place finisher was Henry Mikula of St. Louis who made 120 strokes for a +12 finish. Cole Willyard of St. Albans placed third after his 122 strokes resulted in a +14 finish on the weekend.
Boys 11-13
Girls 14-18

Lake Geneva’s Holly Murphy walked away the champion in the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division after her +13 total through the weekend. She made 1 birdie and had a low scoring average of 84. Ellie Navarre of Memphis, Tennessee placed second after completing the twenty-seven holes at +17. Third-place finisher was Ella Cress of Olive Branch, Mississippi who made 137 strokes for a +29 finish.
Girls U13

Reese Kite of Columbia, Illinois secured the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division’s first-place trophy after making 128 strokes through the twenty-seven holes to finish at +20. She led her playing field with the most birdies (1), the lowest Par-3 average (3.7), and the lowest scoring average (86). This is Reese’s first victory on tour, following her 4th place finish earlier this season.
Boys 10 Under

Caden Fehr of Wildwood, Missouri had a successful weekend in the Bryson DeChambeau Boys U10 Division as he finished at +14 to win the tournament. He led his playing field with the most birdies (2), the lowest Par-3 average (3.2), and the lowest scoring average (80). This was Caden’s first tournament with us and his future looks promising.

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
