Major Championship at Southern Hills

On Saturday August 18 – Sunday August 19, 2018 The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Major Championship at Southern Hills in Farmington, MN. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made from six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, Justin Rose Girls U13 Division, and the Bryson DeChambeau U10 Division.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Major Championship at Southern Hills

Nathaniel Adams of Maple Grove, MN captured the Major Championship in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 division with a 4-under par 2-day total of 138. Adams fired a second round 68 and was able to separate from the competition to take a 5-shot victory over Kyle Hickey of Rochester, MN who finished solo 2nd with rounds of 72-71. Kyle’s consistent play during both rounds was able to keep distance from Carter Doose of St. Peter, MN who shot rounds of 75-70 to claim 3rd place honors.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Major Championship at Southern Hills

In the Will Smith Boys 14-15 division Brooks Loeffler from Eagan, MN took home Major Championship honors this weekend by firing a second-round score of 69 which accumulated a 2-day total of 143. Runner-up honors went to Ian Meyer of Deephaven, MN shooting a 2-day total of 146. Rounding out the division was Teddy Kaste from Apple Valley, MN had a solo third place finish firing a 2-day total of 149.

Ernie Els 11-13

Major Championship at Southern Hills

Parker Sands of Woodbury, MN did not disappoint in the Ernie Els boys 11-13 division as he went on to win his division by finishing 2 under par for the 36-hole Major Championship. Sands posted a first round of 69 which helped established the victory. Behind Sands was Carter Spalding from Woodbury, MN who shot a final round 70 to finish 3 shots behind Sands for runner-up honors. Ben Christenson from Eau Claire, WI rounded out a 3rd place finish with shooting scores of 78-76.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Major Championship at Southern Hills

Jessica Gusier from Hartland, WI ended up with the Major victory within the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division in a heated battle as she won the event by 2 shots over Catherine Monty from Stillwater. Gusier shot rounds of 75-77 while Monty shot rounds of 78-76. Madison Hicks of Victoria was able to put rounds together of 79-77 to take solo 3rd place with a 2-day total of 156.

Justin Rose Girls U13

Major Championship at Southern Hills

Winning the Justin Rose division was Brianna Kirsch of Lancaster, Wisconsin. Kirsch was able to better her first round score by 5 on the second round which secured her victory. Not only has she qualified for the Tournament of Champions, but she will also receive 2,000 points for winning this Major!

Boys 10 Under

In the Justin Rose Girls U13 division, Brianna Kirsch from Lancaster, WI shot a 2-day 36-hole total of 197 to earn the Major Championship victory and Liam Lodding took the victory in the Bryson DeChambeau U10 Division with shooting a 2-day total of 179.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
