From January 9th – 10th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Southern California Kickoff at Morongo. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Boys 16-18 Division, Boys 14-15 Division, Boys 11-13 Division, Girls 14-18 Division, and Girls Under 13 Division.
Boys 16-18

Diego Carrillo from Beaumont, CA was the first-place finisher this weekend. Carrillo brought in scores of 98 and 93 for a combined total of 191 for the weekend.
Boys 14-15

Gavin McCormick from Thousand Oaks, CA was the first-place finisher this weekend. McCormick brought in scores of 86 and 84 for a combined total of 152 for the weekend. Adam Croix from Peoria, AZ and Matthew Diehl from Redlands, CA tied for runner up honors for the weekend. Both Croix and Diehl brought in scores of 86 and 84 for a combined total of 170.
Boys 11-13

After an exciting playoff, Joseph Gutierrez from Whittier, CA was the first-place finisher this weekend. Gutierrez brought in scores of 74 and 75 for a combined total of 149 for the weekend. Austin Woods from Indian Wells, CA was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 74 and 75 for a combined total of 149. Max Margolis from Rancho Mirage, CA finished the top three honors with consistant scores of 75 for a weekend total of 150.
Girls 14-18

Eliana Hellon from San Diego, CA was the first-place finisher this weekend. Hellon brought in scores of 103 and 98 for a combined total of 201 for the weekend.
Girls U13

Emily Gonzalez from Calabasas, CA was the first-place finisher this weekend. Gonzalez brought in scores of 87 and 92 for a combined total of 179 for the weekend. Makenna Kelpman from Steilacoom, WA was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 102 and 96 for a combined total of 198. Liya Kakar from Rancho Mirage, CA finished the top three honors with scores of 106 and 98 for a weekend total of 204.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
