Southeast Regional Invitational

On Saturday, August 11 – Sunday, August 12, 2018, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Southeast Regional Invitational in St. Augustine, Florida. The two-day, thirty-six-hole event held at the World Golf Village - Slammer & Squire consisted of players from all six of our divisions including the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division, Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division, Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division, Bryson DeChambeau Boys U10 Division, Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division, and the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Southeast Regional Invitational

Noah Zediker of Panama City, Florida claimed the title in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division after totaling +5 at the end of the two days. He made 6 birdies and led his playing field for the lowest scoring average at 74.5. Pablo Saenz Avila of Bogota, Colombia finished just one shot behind Noah at +6 resulting in his second-place finish. There was a three-way tie for third-place as Ryan O'Neil (Waxhaw, NC), Will Spivey (Douglas, GA), and James Ballato (Fernandina Beach, FL) all made 151 strokes through the thirty-six holes to finish at +7.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Southeast Regional Invitational

Michael Wu came out on top in the Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division play-off against Oni Martin following their tying +3 totals at the end of the thirty-six holes. As a result, Oni, of Orlando, placed second in the tournament. Michael and Oni both tied for the longest birdie or better streak (2) and the lowest scoring average (73.5)Third-place finisher, AJ Ford, of Atlanta, Georgia made 153 strokes to finish at +9.

Ernie Els 11-13

Southeast Regional Invitational

It was a fight to the finish in the Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division as Gavin Fleming and Brett Moore continued into a playoff after both totaling +3 after the thirty-six holes. Gavin (St. Augustine) came out on top in the playoff, resulting in Brett's (Hollywood, FL) second-place finish. Both tied for the most birdies (5), the lowest scoring average (73.5), and a Par-3 average (3.1). As for third-place, there was another tie, because Sam Brown (Boca Raton) and Tymon (Langting) Sun (Windermere) both made 152 strokes over the course of the two days to total +8.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Southeast Regional Invitational

Competition was high in the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division as Sierra Fink (Canton, GA) and Meghna Grover (Duluth, GA) both totaled +3 at the end of the thirty-six. With that said, Sierra came out on top in the playoff resulting in Meghna's second-place finish. She had a Par-3 average of 2.9 and a birdie or better streak of 2. She led her playing field with the most birdies (6) and tied Meghna for the lowest scoring average (73.5). Ava Marano of Jupiter, Florida placed third after making 149 strokes through the two days to total +5.

Justin Rose Girls U13

Southeast Regional Invitational

In the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division, it was West Palm Beach's Staci Pla who was victorious with her +17 total. She led her playing field with the most birdies (5), the longest birdie or better streak (2), and the lowest scoring average (80.5). Second-place finisher was Sritha Vemuri of Lake Mary, Florida who totaled +20 at the end of the two rounds. Elle Webber of Huntsville, Alabama placed third after making 173 strokes for a +29 finish.

Boys 10 Under

Southeast Regional Invitational

The Bryson DeChambeau Boys U10 tournament champion was Graden Lomax of Lutz, Florida who totaled +10. He made 1 birdie and led his playing field with the lowest scoring average at 77. Miles Russell of Jacksonville Beach, finished just one stroke behind Graden at +11, resulting in his second-place finish. Third-place finisher Alexander Kaufman of Sarasota, Florida made 157 strokes to finish at +13 on the weekend.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
