Southeast Florida Summer Jr. Open

From Saturday, June 22nd through Sunday June 23rd, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Southeast FL Summer Jr. Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15,Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Southeast Florida Summer Jr. Open

Noah Cone of Bradenton, FL took the first-round lead afters coring an 81 and remaining at the top of the leaderboard all weekend. Cone followed up his first-round score with an 82 on Sunday to win by a one-shot margin. John Wang of Beijing, China claimed runner-up honors with a weekend total of 164 strokes. And rounding up the top-three was Jordan Dence of Cape Coral, FL with a three-day total of 171 strokes for the weekend.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Southeast Florida Summer Jr. Open

Hans Risvaer of Miami, FL led the Will Smith Division with a 157 two-round total to take the lead with a first-round 81 and remain in contention the rest of the weekend. Risvaer closed out his weekend with a 76 on Sunday to win. Following his lead, Chase Haygood of Lake Mary, FL finished with a 159 two-round total to take runner-up honors, just 2 off the lead. And finishing up the top-three was Cole Haygood of Lake Mary, FL with a total of 168 strokes for the week.

Ernie Els 11-13

Southeast Florida Summer Jr. Open

Hudson Hagmann of Wilton, CT and Jackson Cavanaugh of Newnan, GA led the division with 165 strokes over the weekend. Cavanaugh was able to win the division forcing a playoff and winning on the first hole. And finishing up the top-three was Hampton Beebe of West Palm Beach, FL with a total of 177 strokes for the weekend.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Southeast Florida Summer Jr. Open

Holly McLean of Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands shot a two-day total of 162 strokes to take home first-place honors with a final round 77. Following her was Gabriella Chavez of Miami, FL with a weekend total of 162 shots, just one shy of the winner. Chavez took solo runner-up honors for the division. Rounding up our top-three was Kyrsten Shawahof Boca Raton, FL with a weekend total of 164 shots.

Justin Rose Girls U13

Southeast Florida Summer Jr. Open

Katherine Schaefer of Sw Ranches, FL shot an 83 the first day to lead the division all weekend. Schaefer was able to seal the victory with a final-round of 76 and a birdie on 15. Following her was Gabriella Albert of Delray Beach, FL with a weekend total of 173 and claimed solo runner-up honors.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
