Southeast Florida Junior Open #1

On Saturday, June 23 – Sunday, June 24, 2018 the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted the Southeast Florida Junior Open #1 in Key Biscayne, Florida. The two-day, thirty-six-hole course that took place at the Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne consisted of players from all six of our divisions, including the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division, Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division, Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division, Boys U10 Division, Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division, and the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Southeast Florida Junior Open #1

Dominic Carrera of Lighthouse Point, Florida captured the victory in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 Division after besting Ryan Dever of Davie, Florida in a playoff. Carrera made the most birdies, with 5 and Dever made 3. Both made 158 strokes on the weekend for a +14 finish and led their playing field with the lowest scoring average of 79. Marco Cuartas of Jupiter, Florida finished third after finishing +20.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Southeast Florida Junior Open #1

In the Will Smith Boys 14-15 Division, Alejandro Morales of Mexico was victorious after shooting 161 through the two days (+17). GT Nicklaus of Jupiter, Florida, placed second this weekend with 171 strokes for a +27 finish. Both Morales and Nicklaus made 3 birdies on the weekend and had the lowest par 3 average in their field at 3.4. Third place finisher was Dante Moser of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida who finished +27.

Southeast Florida Junior Open #1

Rafe Cochran of Palm Beach, Florida took home the victory in the Ernie Els Boys 11-13 Division after shooting 148 to finish the weekend at +4. He led his playing field with the lowest scoring average (74), the most birdies (5), the longest birdie or better streak (3), and the lowest par 3 average (3.4). Brett White of Plantation came in second with 163 strokes for a +19 finish. Hudson Hagmann of Wilton, Connecticut placed third as he finished +52.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Southeast Florida Junior Open #1

In the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division, Agatha Alesson of Weston, Florida took home the victory after finishing +7. She led her playing field with the lowest scoring average (75.5), the most birdies (7), and the lowest par 3 average (2.8). Isabella Bailly, out of North Miami, finished second with a two-day total of +11. Third-place finisher was Kyrsten Shawah of Boca Raton, Florida who finished +14 through the thirty-six holes.

Justin Rose Girls U13

Southeast Florida Junior Open #1

Remi Bacardi took home the first-place trophy this weekend in the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division after a two-day finish of +17. She led her playing field with the lowest scoring average of 80.5 and tied for the lowest Par 3 average of 3.4. Second-place finisher was Clara Laffitte Collazo of Montevideo who made 2 birdies to finish +22. Davie, Florida’s Alessandra Lorenz finished third after shooting 173 through the thirty-six holes.

Boys 10 Under

Southeast Florida Junior Open #1

Josh Lieberman of Parkland, Florida had a successful weekend in the Boys U10 Division as he finished the two-day, thirty-six holes with a total of 167 strokes for a +23 finish. His weekend consisted of a low scoring average of 83.5, 1 birdie, and Par 3 average of 3.4. This is Josh’s second 1st place victory on the tour this year, and his third top 3 finish.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
