On Saturday, February 2 - Sunday, February 3, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the South Florida Junior Open at the Village Golf Course in Royal Palm Beach, FL. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made up of six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau Division Boys Under 10, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under. Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

South Florida Junior Open

Sebastian Collins of Southampton, Bermuda was on his game this past weekend, as he was the champion of the Tiger Woods Division with 147 strokes. It was a tight race behind him, as Zachary Mize of Loxahatchee, FL and Max Orwicz of New Canaan, CT rounded out the division as they tied for second place with a total of 153 strokes.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

South Florida Junior Open

In the Will Smith Division this past weekend, Poonyapat Nantsupawat of Boca Raton, FL won first-place with a two-day total of 160 strokes. It was a tough race for second-place, but Christian Collins of Southampton, Bermuda earned his spot with 163 strokes, and Brett Allen of West Palm Beach, FL finished just one stroke behind him.

Ernie Els 11-13

Lev Grinberg of Kiev, Ukraine did not disappoint this weekend in the Ernie Els Division, as he finished with a two-day total of 138 strokes. Mathew Golovanov of Boca Raton, FL and Diego Azar of Miami, FL made their way into the top three with a total of 152 and 160 strokes respectively.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

South Florida Junior Open

Consistent play both days allowed Jiayang Lu of Chengdu, China to be the champion of the Justin Timberlake Division with 154 strokes. Right behind her was a tie, as Mariella Simoncini of Northville, MI and Kyrsten Shawah of Boca Raton, FL both earned the second-place trophy with a total of 158 strokes.

Justin Rose Girls U13

The number one spot for the Justin Rose dDivision went to Staci Pla of West Palm Beach FL, as she finished out the event with a total of 158 strokes. Just three strokes behind her was Amelia Cobb of Jacksonville, FL with 161 strokes. Cc Kaplan of Riverside, CT finished just one stroke behind Cobb to earn her spot in the top three.

Leading off the Bryson DeChambeau Division this past weekend was Hampton Beebe of West Palm Beach, FL with a total of 154 strokes. Brooks Colton of Riviera Beach, FL worked his way up to the podium with a total of 164 strokes. Rounding out the division was Sohan Patel of Weston, FL with 168 strokes.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
