South Florida Junior Classic

On Saturday, November 18th the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour was in Miami to host the South Florida Junior Classic at the beautiful Normandy Shores. The players competed during a beautiful weekend in Miami which made for a great time! The HJGT would like to thank the amazing staff of the Normandy Shores Golf Course for their hospitality and ensuring excellent conditions for the field of play.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

South Florida Junior Classic

Drew Steiner of Boca Raton, FL is the Boys 16-18 champion. Steiner had a 1st round of 74 on Saturday and a 2nd round of 71 on Sunday for a two-day total of 145. Thomas Christensen III came in 2nd with a two day total of 145, he had a 1st  round of 70 and 2nd round of 75. Steiner and Christensen battled in a playoff to break their tie and Steiner came away with a par to win the playoff. 3rd place was given to Gabriel Porges who carded a two-day total of 149 (78-71). The players had a great time competing and their close scores made it even more exciting.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

South Florida Junior Classic

Yoshi Petersson of Miami Beach, FL is the Boys 14-15 champion. After a 78 on Saturday, Petersson carded a 79 on Sunday for a two-day total of 157. Collin Donnelly of Boynton Beach, FL came in 2nd with a two-day total of 165 (85-80). Xiaoqun Zhang of TianJin placed 3rd with a two-day total of 170. Zhang carded an 87 on Saturday and an 83 on Sunday.

Ernie Els 11-13

South Florida Junior Classic

Andres Atrio of Coral Gables, FL is the champion of the Boys 11-13 division. Atrio carded a 72 on Saturday and a 70 on Sunday for a 142 two-day total to claim the title. Chu Han Zhou came in 2nd after finishing with a two-day total of 154 (75-79). 3rd was awarded to Sho Suzuki who totaled 156 (80-76). This division had great competition and each player can walk away proud of their effort.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

South Florida Junior Classic

Tori Bien of Hollywood, FL is the Girls 14-18 champion. Bien scored a 76 on Saturday, and a 77 on Sunday for a two-day total of 153. Finishing in 2nd from Miramar, FL was Laura Lou who posted rounds of 76 on Saturday and 81 on Sunday for a total of 157. 3rd place was awarded to Natalia Jimenez and Alena Lindh who totaled 159. Both Jimenez, of Pembroke Pines, FL  and Lindh, of Davie, FL shot 79 on Saturday and 80 on Sunday.

Justin Rose Girls U13

South Florida Junior Classic

Gianna Clemente of Warren, OH took home the Girls U13 first place trophy. Clemente had a two-day total of 155, having carded 77 on Saturday and 78 on Sunday. Alessandra Lorenz came in second with a two-day total of 156 (83-73). 3rd place was awarded to Kayla Brant who had a 1st round of 86 and 2nd round of 80 for a two-day total of 166.

Boys 10 Under

South Florida Junior Classic

Matthew Golovanov of Boca Raton, FL is the Boys U10 champion. Golovanov had a two-day total of 145 (75-70). 2nd place was given to Attila Sharipbek. Sharipbek scored 94 both days for a total of 188. The boys played together both days and enjoyed their time together.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
