Sarasota Junior Classic

On Saturday and Sunday, October 21-22 the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour was in Sarasota to host the Sarasota Junior Classic at the beautiful Palm Aire Country Club. The players battled through a windy weekend, but it wasn’t too much to keep us all from having a good time! The HJGT would like to thank the amazing staff of the Palm Aire Country Club for their hospitality and ensuring excellent conditions for the field of play.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Sarasota Junior Classic

Erik Fahlen of Rockford, MI is the Boys 16-18 champion.  Fahlen had a 1st round of 69 on Saturday and a 2nd round of 71 on Sunday. He won first place after a solid birdie putt on the first playoff hole. Dean Naime of Cairo, Egypt came in 2nd with a two day total of 140. Naime had a 1st  round of 71 and 2nd round of 69 coming away with a 140 total. 3rd place was given to Frederick Eisenbeis who carded a two-day total of 141 (70-71). The players had a great time competing and their close scores made it even more exciting.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Sarasota Junior Classic

Kyo Morishita  of Hyougo is the Boys 14-15 champion. After a strong 72 on Saturday, Morishita only improved with a 68 on Sunday for a two-day total of 140. Luke Bigelow of Sharon, Ontario came in 2nd with a two-day total of 145 (71-74). Armand Loscalzo of Tampa, FL finished in 3rd place with a two-day total of 146 (75-71).

Ernie Els 11-13

Sarasota Junior Classic

Zheng Yi (Louie) Lu of Bradenton, FL is the champion of the Boys 11-13 division. Lu only got better as the days went on with a 73 on Saturday and a 69 on Sunday for a 142 two-day total to claim the title. Wyatt Plattner came in 2nd after finishing with a two-day total of 146 (74-72). 3rd was awarded to Chu Han Zhou who totaled 150 (78-72). This division had great competition and each player can walk away proud of their effort.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Sarasota Junior Classic

Jacqueline Putrino of Sarasota, FL is the Girls 14-18 champion. Putrino scored a 73 on Saturday, and a 74 on Sunday for a two-day total of 147. Finishing in 2nd from Plant City, FL was Taylor Dedmen who posted rounds of 78 and 70 to finish with a total of 148. 3rd place was awarded to Rachel Carlson of Bradenton, FL who shot 75 on Saturday and 80 on Sunday for a two-day total of 155. The girls all performed well and enjoyed the competition.

Boys 10 Under

Sarasota Junior Classic

Alexander Kaufman, of Sarasota FL took home the 1st place trophy for the Boys under 10 division. Kaufman ended Saturday with a score of 80 and a Sunday score of 73 for a two-day total of 153. 2nd place was awarded to Graden Lomax of Odessa, FL who had a first and 2nd round score of 79 with a two-day total of 158. Ferguson McLeod of Bradenton, FL came in 3rd with a two-day total of 165 (86-79). The boys all played well and came away with great scores.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
