Rochester Junior Challenge

On Saturday, September 30 the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour headed to Victor, NY to host the Rochester Junior Challenge at the beautiful Ravenwood Golf Club. The players battled through a cold and windy Saturday to find sun and lower scores on Sunday. Even with how cold it was, nothing could stop us from having a great weekend!

 

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Rochester Junior Challenge

Max Dragon of Rochester, NY is the Boys 16-18 champion. Dragon solidified the victory in his division carding a 77 Saturday and 71 Sunday for a two-day total of 148. Michael Mandel of New Hartford, NY finished in 2nd with a two-day total of 150 (73-77).  Jack Bailey of Pittsford, NY finished in 3rd place who carded a two-day total of 153. The players had a great time competing against some of the best junior golfers in the country.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Rochester Junior Challenge

Ian Wagner of Medina, NY is the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. Consistency was key for Farley as he posted a round of 72 Saturday and 74 Sunday for a 146 two-day total to claim the title. Mark Clarey of Cobourg, came in a close 2nd after finishing with a two-day total of 150 (79-71). Samuel Taylor of Nichols, NY was the 3rd place finisher after a two-day total of 153 (78-75). This division had great competition and each player can walk away proud of their effort.

Rochester Junior Challenge

Charlie Fischer of Orchard Park, NY is the Boys 11-13 champion. After a 78 Saturday, Fischer closed strong with a final round of 73 to secure the victory finishing with a two-day total of 151. Anthony Maglisco of Syracuse, NY finished in 2nd with two-day total of 159. Dawson Miller of East Amherst, NY finished alone in 3rd place with a two-day total of 166 (83-83). The boys had a fun time navigating through the course and showed maturity beyond their years in battling its many challenges

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Rochester Junior Challenge

Mikah McDonnell of Webster, NY is the Girls 14-18 champion. McDonnell had a 84 Saturday and followed that with a sensational 75 on Sunday for a two-day total of 159. Finishing in 2nd from Clarence Center was Brenna Callahan who posted rounds of 84 and 85 to finish with a total of 169. The ladies each enjoyed their experience, with some intense competition down the stretch.

Jayde Ford is the Girls 13 and Under champion. Ford of Rochester, NY emerged victorious after posting a two-day total of 181 (98-83). Even though she was the only one in her division, she battled with the older girls both days.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
