Richmond Junior Open

From March 7th to March 8th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Richmond Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau Division Boys Under 10, and Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18.

Boys 16-18

Richmond Junior Open

Quint Dingledine from Richmond, VA was the first-place finisher this weekend. Dingledine brought in scores of 70 and 67 for an impressive combined total of 137 for the weekend. Taylor Hubbard from Aylett, VA was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 75 and 70 for a combined total of 145. Brint Harbison from Glen Allen, VA finished the top three honors with scores of 76 and 71 for a weekend total of 147.

Boys 14-15

Richmond Junior Open

Matthew Vital, from Bethlehem, PA was able to seal his victory by ending the weekend with consistant scores of 73 for a combined total of 146. Cole Shingleton from Winchester, VA was the runner up with scores of 83 and 75 for a 158 strokes. Benjamin Chamberlin from Germantown, MD finished the top three honors with scores of 79 and 85 for a weekend total of 164.

Boys 11-13

Richmond Junior Open

Benjamin Baker from Broadlands, VA was the first-place finisher this weekend. Baker brought in scores of 75 and 70 with a combined score of 145.  Jason Park from Fulton, MD was the second-place finisher with scores of 80 and 77 for a total of 157. To round out the top three was Talon Dingledine from Richmond, VA. Dingledine ended the weekend with consistant scores of 79 for a total of 158 strokes.

Jessica Rathbone from Montpelier, VA was the top finisher with impressive consistant scores of 77 for a 154 weekend finish. Ava O’Sullivan from Exton, PA took home the runner up title with scores of 80 and 77 for a weekend total of 157 strokes.  Lilly Rose Moreau from Wethersfield, CT rounded out the top three with scores of 82 and 79 a combined total of 161 strokes.

Ayush Bhansali from Ashburn, VA was the top finisher with impressive scores of 77 and 78 for a 155 weekend finish. Landon O’Hara from Severn, MD took home the runner up title with scores of 89 and 81 for a weekend total of 170.  Philip Verghese from Arlington, VA rounded out the top three with scores of 93 and 94 a combined total of 187.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 8-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The tour’s vision is to provide superb hospitality and make every event a memorable one. With play open to both males and females, nearly every junior golfer is eligible to participate on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Currently the HJGT is the largest multi-day junior golf tour in the United States hosting more 2-day nationally ranked events than any other tour. The HJGT has been able to achieve this goal by running the most professional events and providing an exceptional value to all of our players and families over the last 14 years.

Based out of Orlando, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the country. In 2021, the HJGT will conduct events in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Canada. Juniors will compete in 1 of 6 divisions which are: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys under 10, Girls 14-18, and Girls Under 13. Click here to view approximate yardages for each division. The HJGT season is based on a calendar year and players earn points throughout the season towards year end honors beginning December 31, 2021.
