From November 28-29, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Red Tail Thanksgiving Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and Justin Rose Division Girls Under 13.
Boys 16-18

Mathieu Lafontaine from Vaudreuil-Dorion, Canada was the first-place finisher this weekend. Lafontaine brought in scores of 73 and 71 for a combined total of 144 for the weekend. Jean-Philippe Parr from St. Celestin, Canada was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 70 and 77 for a combined total of 147. Gabriel Zhang from Lake Mary, FL finished the top three honors with scores of 75 and 73 for a weekend total of 148.
Boys 14-15

Akshay Mandadapu from Lake Mary, FL was the first-place finisher this weekend. Mandadapu brought in scores of 76 and 75 for a combined total of 151 for the weekend. Qi Liu from Lake Mary, FL was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 80 and 73 for a combined total of 153. Tyrone Langtai Sun from Windermere, FL and Davis Downing from Windermere, FL finished in the top three honors. Sun finished with scores of 79 and 75 for a weekend total of 154. Downing came in with scores of 80 and 74 for a total of 154.
Boys 11-13

Nicklaus Downing from Windermere, FL was the first-place finisher this weekend. Downing brought in scores of 78 and 75 for a combined total of 153 for the weekend. Jack Newman from Winter Park, FL was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 91 and 93 for a combined total of 184.
Girls 14-18

Ryleigh Knaub from Winter Springs, FL was the first-place finisher this weekend. Knaub brought in scores of 70 and 72 for a combined total of 142 for the weekend. Maria Cabanillas from San Martin de los Andes, Argentina was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 70 and 73 for a combined total of 143. Anne-Lea Lavoie from Quebec, Canada and Grace Suter Oconomowoc, WI both finished the top three honors. Lavoie finished with scores of 75 and 74 for a weekend total of 149. Suter also finished with scored of 73 and 76 for a total of 149.
Girls U13

Emma Lee from Scarsdale, NY was the first-place finisher this weekend. Lee brought in scores of 79 and 76 for a combined total of 155 for the weekend. Maya Fujisawa Keuling from Carmel, IN was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 91 and 97 for a combined total of 188. Mikayla Pungsuwan from Lecanto, FL finished the top three honors with scores of 118 and 118 for a weekend total of 236.

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
