PLA Junior Golf Academy Open

On Saturday September 15 – Sunday September 16, 2018 The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the PLA Junior Golf Academy Open at Sandhill Crane GC in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made from Six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson Dechambeau Division Boys U10, Justin Rose Division U13, and the Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

PLA Junior Golf Academy Open

Matthew Myers captured the first-place finish n the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 division with a 2-day total of 143 (75-68). With solid play both days, Myers was able to hold off Alessandro Lamarca who carded a 2-day total of 145. Rounding out the top 3 is Finn Sapp with a total of 150.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

PLA Junior Golf Academy Open

In the Will Smith Boys 14-15 division Michael Bell took home first place this weekend in shooting a 2-day total of 152(76-76). Solid play throughout allowed Bell to take a 1 shot victory over Christopher Lee who finished second with a 2 day total of 153. Rounding out the division was Shoichiro Sakamoto who finished 4 shots behind Lee to claim a 3rd place finish.

Ernie Els 11-13

PLA Junior Golf Academy Open

Rafe Cochran did not disappoint in the Ernie Els boys 11-13 division as he carded rounds of 70-71 to win in his division over Brett Allen who carded rounds of 79-73 to claim 2nd place. Behind Allen was Corbin Scott who shot a 2-day total of 158 (75-83) to take a solo 3rd place finish.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

PLA Junior Golf Academy Open

Ka Yee Kwok captured the first-place finish in the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 division with a 2-day total of 145 (73-72). With solid play both days, Kwok was able to hold off Ava Marano who carded a 2-day total of 147. Rounding out the top 3 is Anne Walsh with a total of 152.

Justin Rose Girls U13

PLA Junior Golf Academy Open

Christiana Marcellus took home a first-place finish in the Justin Rose Girls U13 division with a 2-day total of 155 (79-76). Marcellus was able to hold off Jingyan Pan who carded a 2-day total of 157. Rounding out the top 3 is Gabriella DeGasperis with a total of 162.

Boys 10 Under

PLA Junior Golf Academy Open

Christopher Zambito did not disappoint in the Bryson Dechambeau boys U10 division as he carded rounds of 88-88 to win in his division in a close finish over Noah Crossman who carded rounds of 86-92 to claim 2nd place. Rounding out the top 3 is Kenny Klein who carded rounds of 104-98 for a total of 202.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
