From Saturday June 15th through Sunday June 16th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held Pittsburgh Summer Jr. Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.
Tiger Woods Boys 16-18
Ryan Meyer of Sewickley, PA took the first-round lead after scoring an outstanding 74 on Saturday. Meyer remained at the top of the leaderboard all weekend, with a weekend total of 148and winning by a margin of 7 strokes. Nathan Piatt of Pittsburgh, PA finished in second place with rounds of 79 and 76 for the weekend with 3 total birdies. Rounding up our top-three was Alex Turowski of Harrison City, PA with a weekend total 157 shots to finish with solo third-place honors.
Will Smith Boys 14-15
Jeffrey Anderchak of Murrysville, PA claimed victory honors with a 164 total. Anderchak was able to seal his victory with rounds of 78 and 86 over the weekend, making 2 birdies total and winning by an 8-stroke margin. Weston Warden of Glenshaw, PA claimed runner-up honors with a weekend total of 172 and an improved final round 85. Rounding up the top three was Ethan Elis of Butler, PA with 181 shots total to claim third-place honors.
Ernie Els 11-13
Nicholas Turowski of Harrison City, PA was able to seal his victory after a first-round 79 and remain on top of the leaderboard all weekend. Turowski finished with 164 shots for the weekend to win by a 12-shot margin. Trevor Todd of Indiana, PA claimed solo runner-up honors with a weekend total of 176 stokes and an improved final round of 86.
Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18
Peyton Schaffer of Lexington, KY claimed first-place honors with a weekend total of 161 shots over her closest rival. Schaffer lead the way all weekend with a first-round 80 and a victory margin of 7 strokes. Kiaira Porter of Moon, PA and Lauren Barber of Jeannette, PA were tied for second place with a 168 shots total.
