From Saturday, May 11 – Sunday, May 12, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Pittsburgh Junior Open at Glengarry Golf Links in Latrobe, PA. The tournament was shortened due to weather and resulted in an 18-holetournament. The field was made from all six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau Division Boys U10, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Pittsburgh Junior Open

Nathan Piatt of Pittsburgh, PA came away victorious in the Tiger Woods | Boys 16-18 Division with an impressive 1-under par round 69. In 2nd place, there was a three-way tie with Aidan Oehrle, Mario Battaglia, and Nick Piper shooting scores of 73.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Pittsburgh Junior Open

The Will Smith | Boys 14-15 Division was a tie after Rd 1. Weston Warden of Glenshaw, PA and Nolan Nicklas of Cranberry Twp, PA both shot rounds of 79 to take home co-champion honors. Owen Rooney rounded out the top 3 with a solid score of 81.

Ernie Els 11-13

Pittsburgh Junior Open

Nicholas Turowski of Harrison City, PA took home 1st place honors in the Ernie Els | Boys 11-13 Division shooting a strong score of 73 in Rd 1. David Fuhrer came in 2nd place shooting a nice score of 77. Rounding out the top 3 was Trevor Todd firing a Rd 1 score of 81.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Sarah White of Erie, PA edged out 1st place honors in the Justin Timberlake| Girls 14-18 Division by shooting a great score of 78 in Rd 1. Right behind her was Inseo Huh shooting a score of 79. Rounding out the top 3 was Tara Loughran shooting an 83.

Mya Morgan came away with the 1st place prize in the Justin Rose | GirlsU13 Division by shooting a Rd 1 score of 90 in the Pittsburgh Junior Open.

Avid HJGT player Carson Higginbotham of Clarksburg, WV came away with the 1st place hardware in the Bryson DeChambeau | Boys U10 Division after firing a strong Rd 1 score of 76. Close on his heels was Aaron Didjunas shooting a solid round of 84.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
