On Saturday May 12 – Sunday May 13, 2018 The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Pittsburgh Junior Open at Glengarry Golf Links in Latrobe, PA. The tournament was made up of a 27-hole, two-day format and the field was made from five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18 and the Justin Rose Girls U13 Division.

Zach Boote of Greensburg, Pennsylvania captured the title in the Tiger Woods Boys 16-18 division with a solid two-day total of 110. He was able to cruise to a 6-shot victory over Ryan Marshall who finished solo 2nd with a final round 76. With steady play during the final round, Ryan was able to keep distance from Cade Martin and Paul Mastros who tied for 3rd respectively with scores of 118.

In the Will Smith Boys 14-15 division Trey Cox from Bethesda MD took home the victory this weekend in fashion. Trey shot a 27-hole total of 101. Anthony Maltony of Oakdale, PA finished 2nd.

Zachary Stennes of Minnetonka, MN did not disappoint in the Ernie Els boys 11-13 division as he went on to win his division by an impressive 6 shots. Gutierrez posted a final round of 77 after going out in 34. Behind Stennes was David Fuhrer from Pittsburgh PA who shot a final round 79 to maintain an outright second place finish with a 27-hole total of 120. Kyle Kerber from Pittsburgh PA rounded out a 3rd place finish within the division.

Iris Shin from Rocky River, OH ended up with the victory within the Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18 Division in dominating fashion as she won the event by 9 shots. Shin shot an impressive final round 72 with a 27-hole total of 109. Shin shot a 1 under 36 on the back-nine in her final round to solidify the win. It was a close battle for second place as Sarah White dueled out Mary Kate Norcross by one stroke

In the Justin Rose Girls U13 division, Mia Hammond from Crooksville, OH cruised to a 17 shot victory after firing a 2-day 27-hole total of 118. Mia shot a final round 80 which included going out in 2-over par (36) with a triple bogey on the 1st hole. Hailey Coleman rounded at the girls U13 division shooting a 27-hole total of 135

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
