From January 4th to the 5th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Phoenix Winter Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau Boys Under 10, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and Justin Rose Division Girls Under 13.

Phoenix Winter Open

After a playoff this weekend, William King from Olathe, KS was the first-place finisher.. King brought in scores of 70 and 72 for a combined total of 142 for the weekend to take home the victory over Ryan Vickers from Gilbert, AZ. Vickers was the runner up for the weekend with scores of 74 and 68 for a combined total of 142. Nikolas Kittilson from Chandler, AZ was the third place finisher with weekend scores of 73 and 72 for a total of 145.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Traejan Andrews from Greeley, CO was able to seal his victory by ending the weekend with consistant scores of 74 for a combined total of 148. Camden O’Malley from White Bear Lake, MN was the runner up with consistant scores of  79 for a weekend total of 158. To round out the top three honors was Blake Steensland from Edina, MN. Steensland put up scores of 80 and 83 for a weekend total of 163.

After a playoff this weekend, Tommy Kelley from Omaha, NE was the first-place finisher this weekend. Kelley brought in scores of 71 and 77 with a combined score of 148 for the weekend to take home the victory over Owen Bolles from Goodyear, AZ. Bollees was the second-place finisher with scores of 72 and 76 for a total of 148. To round out the top three was Ethan Wang from Vancouver, Canada. Wang ended the weekend with scores of 90 and 105 for a total of 195.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Phoenix Winter Open

Eva Bulder from Sewickley, PA was the top finisher with scores of 78 and 81 for a 159 stroke weekend finish. Ellie Johnson from Des Peres, MO took home the runner up title with scores of 78 and 87 for a weekend total of 165. Lauren Peterson from Harland, WI rounded out the top three with scores of 80 and 86 for a combined total of 166.

Justin Rose Girls U13

Phoenix Winter Open

Claudia Zhang from West Vancouver, Canada was the top finisher with impressive scores of 75 and 71 for a 146 stroke weekend finish. Claire Swathwood Carmel, IN  took home the runner up title with scores of 82 and 79 for a weekend total of 161. Callia Ward from Alburquerque, NM rounded out the top three with scores of 80 and 82 for a combined total of 162.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
