Philadelphia Summer Junior Open

From Tuesday July 9ththrough Wednesday July 10th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Philadelphia Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.

Boys 16-18

Philadelphia Summer Junior Open

Jaden Weisman of Malvern, PA took the lead after scoring an outstanding 68 on Tuesday. Weisman climbed to the top of the leaderboard on Tuesday, with rounds of 68 and 77 to win by a margin of 3 strokes. Ryan McCabe of Media, PA finished in second place with rounds of 74 and 74 to claim individual runner-up honors with a total of 148 strokes. Rounding up the top-three was Bobby Lugiano of Shavertown, PA with a total of 150 strokes and solo third-place honors.

Boys 14-15

Philadelphia Summer Junior Open

Jackson Chong from Hong Kong was able to seal his victory with rounds of 79 and 78 over the week, making 3 over the week to finish at a two-day total of 157 strokes. Kelly Zhu of Beijing claimed runner-up honors with a weekend day total of 163 and consistent week rounds. Rounding up the top three was Simon Domencic of Lebanon, PA with a weekend totals of 167 strokes for third place honors.

Pak Hin Sze of Hong Kong was able to seal his victory with a final round of 72 and a week total of 143 strokes. Sze made 4 birdies the last day to win by a ten-shot margin over his closest competitor. Cole Shingleton of Wincherster, VA shot a total of 153 shots and claimed solo runner-up honors. Rounding up our top-three was Jackson Armbuster of Simpsonville, SC  with a total of 168 strokes and claimed solo third-place honors.

Girls 14-18

Philadelphia Summer Junior Open

Mariel Isabella Tee of the Philippines claimed first place honors after shooting a last round 69 to win by a margin of 9 strokes over her closest competitor. Tee shot a total of 145 strokes for the weekend to win. Nancy Zheng of Chino Hills, CA shot a total of 154 strokes to claim solo runner-up honors. Rounding up the top three was Nicole Chan of Kent, CT  with a total of 155 shots to claim solo third-place honors.

Girls U13

Philadelphia Summer Junior Open

Ellison Lundquist of Furlong, PA shot a weekend total of 149 shots and a final round of 72 to claim victory. Lundquist was able to win by a significant margin over her closest competitor. Following her was Addison Surber of Montgomery, TX with a total of 162 shots to finish with solo runner-up honors. And rounding up our top-three was Alexandra Mathis of Leesburg, VA with a week total of 174 shots and take solo third-place honors.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 8-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The tour’s vision is to provide superb hospitality and make every event a memorable one. With play open to both males and females, nearly every junior golfer is eligible to participate on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Currently the HJGT is the largest multi-day junior golf tour in the United States hosting more 2-day nationally ranked events than any other tour. The HJGT has been able to achieve this goal by running the most professional events and providing an exceptional value to all of our players and families over the last 14 years.

Based out of Orlando, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the country. In 2021, the HJGT will conduct events in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Canada. Juniors will compete in 1 of 6 divisions which are: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys under 10, Girls 14-18, and Girls Under 13. Click here to view approximate yardages for each division. The HJGT season is based on a calendar year and players earn points throughout the season towards year end honors beginning December 31, 2021.
