From Saturday July 13ththrough Sunday July 14th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the PGA National Summer Jr. Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau boys 10 and Under, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

PGA National Junior Open

Hank Schaefer of Orlando, FL and Joe Lemke of West Palm Beach, FL tied for first place with weekend totals of 154 shots. Schaefer was able to win the playoff with a par on the first hole and claim victory of Lemke. Rounding up the top-three were Vladimir Dieffenbach of Kazakhstan and Jose Antonio Safa of Championsgate, FL with weekend totals of 155 strokes and claim third-place honors.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

PGA National Junior Open

Ryan Leung of Hong Kong was able to seal his victory with rounds of 77 and 75 over the weekend, 3 birdies over the weekend to finish at a two-day total of 152 strokes. Qilin Yu of Guang Dong claimed runner-up honors with a weekend day total of 153 shots and consistent weekend rounds. Rounding up the top three was Dante Moser of Palm Beach Gardens, FL with a weekend total of 159 strokes for third place honors.

Ernie Els 11-13

PGA National Junior Open

Chenqi Wu of Bradenton, FL was able to seal his victory with a final round of 75 and a weekend total of 145 strokes. Wu made 6 birdies over the weekend and a 70 on Saturday to win by a 3 shot margin over his closest competitor. Jiacheng Xu of Winter Garden, FL shot a total of 148 shots and claimed solo runner-up honors for the division. Rounding up the top-three was Hampton Beebe of West Palm Beach, FL with a weekend total of 154 shots to claim solo third place honors.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

PGA National Junior Open

Andrea Velez of Colombia claimed first place honors after shooting a last round 73 to win by a margin of 3 strokes over her closest competitor. Velez shot a total of 149 strokes and 4 birdies over the weekend to win. Karly Falanga of Tequesta, FL shot a total of 152 strokes to claim solo runner-up honors. Rounding up the top three was Briana Gabe of Melbourne, FL with a total of 154 shots to claim solo third-place honors.

Justin Rose Girls U13

PGA National Junior Open

Staci Pla of West Palm Beach, FL was able to seal her victory with a weekend total of 147 strokes. Pla made 5 birdies and an eagle over the weekend to win by a 2-stroke margin over her closest competitor. Miriam Barcalova of Boyton Beach, FL shot a total of 149 shots to tie for runner up honors with Victoria Renzi of Argentina. Both claimed runner-up honors for the tournament.

Giancarlo Aguirre of Peru was able to seal his victory with a weekend total of 168 strokes. Aguirre made a birdie over the weekend to win by a 8-stroke margin over his closest competitor. Ethan Ranney of Wellington, FL shot a total of 176 shots and claimed solo runner-up honors. Rounding up the top-three was Jordan Reyes of West Palm Beach, FL with a weekend total of 200 strokes and claimed solo third-place honors.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
