From Saturday, April 27 – Sunday, April 28, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the PGA National Junior Open at PGA National Resort in West Palm Beach, FL. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made from all six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau Boys 10 and Under, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.

Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

PGA National Junior Open

Alexis Valenzuela of Albany, Bahamas was on fire this weekend, as he finished with 142 strokes. This caused him to become to champion of the Tiger Woods Division. Five strokes behind him was second-place finisher Yuya Eguchi of Port St. Lucie, FL with 147 strokes. Just one stroke behind Eguchi, there was a two-way tie for the bronze. Hank Schaefer of Orlando, FL and Shutaro Umeuchi of Port St. Lucie, FL finished with 148 strokes each.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

PGA National Junior Open

The top spot on the podium in the Will Smith Division went to Max Jelinek of Port St. Lucie, FL with 145 strokes. Andres Atrio of Coral Gables, FL earned the silver just three strokes shy of the gold. Rounding out the division was Alexander Dalmau of Coral Gables, Fl with 153 strokes.

Ernie Els 11-13

It was a tough race in the Ernie Els Division, as there was a champion and a two-way tie for second, just two strokes behind him. Phillip Dunham of Jacksonville, FL was the champion as he finished with 149 strokes. Matvey Golovanov of Boca Raton, FL and Brayden Jenard of Wellington, FL finished with 151 strokes each.

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

There was a competitive field in the Justin Timberlake Division as there was a champion and a four-way tie for the silver. Anne Fernandez of Albany, Bahamas earned the gold with 142 strokes. Margaret Fernandez of Albany, Bahamas, Anika Richards of Fernandina Beach, FL Kiley Malmberg of Jupiter, FL and Vilda Westh Blanc of Wartrace, TN all finished with 152 strokes each.

Justin Rose Girls U13

There was another close call in the Justin Rose Division but Madison Moman of Palm Beach Gardens, FL earned the gold as she finished out the tournament with 148 strokes. Just one stroke behind her fell silver medalist Morgan Rodriguez of Delray Beach, FL with 149 strokes. Gabriella DeGasperis of Briarcliff Manor, NY took the final spot on the podium, with 154 strokes.

The Bryson DeChambeau Division was no match for Ethan Ranney of Wellington, FL. He finished out the tournament with 183 strokes.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
