From Saturday, June 15th through Sunday June 16th,the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Pennsylvania Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.
Devin Smith of Waynesboro, PA took the first-round lead after scoring a 78 on Saturday and remain at the top of the leaderboard all weekend, with a final round 75, winning by a one-shot margin. Carter Hassenplug of North East, PA finished in second place with rounds of 78 and 76 for the weekend, and a weekend total of 154 to claim solo runner-up honors. Rounding up the top-three was Tommy Coffey of Ijansville, MD with a final round of 74 and a weekend total of 157 shots to take third-place.
Aiden LeBlanc of Macungie, PA claimed victory with a weekend total of 158 shots. LeBlanc was able to seal his victory with rounds of 79-79 over the weekend, making 2 birdies total to finish with158 shots. Bobby Nicholson of York, PA claimed runner-up honors with a two day total of 167, 9 shots shy of the winner for the division. Rounding up the top three was Jack Novis of Lancaster, PA with a weekend total of 168 shots to take third-place honors.
Michael Lugiano from Shavertown, PA was able to seal his victory with a weekend total of 168 shots and lead the division both days. Lugiano shot consecutive round of 84-84 both days to win by a four-shot margin over his closest rival. Mason Tucker of York, PA shot a weekend total of 172 shots to claim solo runner-up honors for the division.
Sarah Scarpill of Warrington, PA was able to seal her victory with a two-day total of 165 shots and a first-round lead of 78. Scarpill was able to win by a margin of two-strokes over Paige Richter of Camp Hill, PA. Richter closed her week at a total of 167 shots and claim solo runner-up honors with 3 birdies for the weekend. Rounding up the top three with was McKylie Boreman of New Cumberland, PA with a weekend total of 170 shots to claim third-place honors.
Jolie Pastorick of Rydal, PA shot a weekend total of 170 shots to claim first-place honors. Pastorick closed out her weekend with a final round 84 on Sunday to finish with a 15-shot winning margin. Following her was Victoria Guerrero of New Hyde Park, NY with a weekend total of 185 strokes to claim solo runner-up honors. And rounding up our top-three was Megan Kirkpatrick with a weekend total of 189 shots and take third-place honors.
