On Saturday and Sunday, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Lake Mary, FL to host the Orlando Junior Shootout at the beautiful Timacuan Golf & Country Club. The players battled through a wet and windy Saturday and Sunday. Even with a minor rain delay on Sunday, nothing could stop us from having a great weekend!


Tiger Woods Boys 16-18

Orlando Jr. Shootout

Matthew Soucinek of Lake City, FL is the Boys 16-18 champion. Matthew solidified the victory in his division carding a 71 Saturday and 72 Sunday for a two-day total of 143. Johnny Bai of Lake Mary, Florida and Jee Won Park also from Lake Mary, FL ended up tying for 2nd with a two-day total of 144 (72-72).  The two of them competed back and forth all weekend pushing each other to the best of their abilities.

Will Smith Boys 14-15

Orlando Jr. Shootout

Kenny Nguyen of Windermere, FL is the champion of the Boys 14-15 Division. Consistency was key for Kenny as he posted a round of 75 Saturday and 75 Sunday for a 150-two-day total to claim the title. Johnny Write of Orlando, FL came in a close 2nd after finishing with a two-day total of 154 (76-78). Papon Sawatyanon of Bradenton, FL was the 3rd place finisher after a two-day total of 156 (80-76). This division had great competition and each player can walk away proud of their effort

Justin Bai of Lake Mary, FL is the boys 11-13 champion. After a 75 Saturday, Petersen closed the deal with a final round of 78 to secure the victory finishing with a two-day total of 153. Sebastian Mascia of Valencia-Venezuela, FL  came in 2nd with a two-day total of 156 (77-79) and Ethen Keen of West Palm Beach, FL finished 3rd  with a two-day totals of 177 (88-89).

Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18

Amy Zhang of Lake Mary, FL is the girls 14-18 champion. Amy had a 76 Saturday and followed that with a sensational 71 on Sunday for a two-day total of 147. Finishing in 2nd from Wesley Chapel, FL Cosette Anderson who posted rounds of 75 and 73 to finish with a total of 148. Jennifer Zhou of Longwood, FL finished in 3rd place with a two-day total of 149 (74-75). The ladies each enjoyed their experience, with some intense competition down the stretch.

Justin Rose Girls U13

Stacy Pla is the girls 13 and under champion. Stacy of West Palm Beach, FL emerged victorious after posting a two-day total of 168 (86-82). Finishing 2nd with a two-day total of 207 (98-109) which Hannah Hall of Rock Ridge Florida.

Aaron DeWitt, of Winter Haven, FL took home the 1st place trophy for the boys 10U division. Aaron, had a two-day score of 150 (74-76). Graden Lomx of Odessa, FL finished with a two-day total of 163 (88-84). Coming in 3rd in the boys 10U division was Matthew Lim of Naperville, IL who finished with a 200 (99-101).

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
