Orlando Academy Cup

From October 2-3, 2021 , the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Orlando Academy Cup. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Boys 16-18 Division, Boys 14-15 Division, Boys 11-13 Division, Girls 14-18 Division, and Girls U13 Division. The Mike Bender Academy took home the first place honors for the weekend bringing in a team score of 458 on day 1 and 460 on day 2, a 918 total. Hernan Rey Academy took home the runner up honors with a final score of 949. Rounding out the top three honors was Shattuck St. Mary’s with a final score of 970.

Boys 16-18

Gaspar Glaudas from Shattuck St. Mary’s was the first-place finisher this weekend. Glaudas brought in scores of 76 and 73 for a weekend total of 149. Sebastiano Mascia from Hernan Rey Academy, John Mark Mills from Mike Bender Academy, Sebastian Sabella from Hernan Rey Academy, and Cody Williams, an individual all tied for the runner up honors with a final score of 150.

Jizhou Tian, an individual for the weekend was the first-place finisher. Tian brought in scores of 71 and 76 for a weekend total of 147. Gabriel Prisciandaro from Mike Bender Academy was the runner up for the weekend. Prisciandaro brought in scores of 76 and 75 for a weekend total fo 151. Rounding out the top three honors was James Fu from Mike Bender Acadmey. Fu finished with scores of 83 and 84 for a weekend total of 167.

Avery Liu, an individual for the weekend was the first-place finisher. Liu brought in scores of 78 and 85 for a weekend total of 163. Braden Plaisted, an individual for the weekend finished with the runner up honors. Plaisted finished with scores of 83 and 85 for a weekend total of 168.

McKenna Murphy from Mike Bender Academy was the first-place finisher this weekend. Murphy finished with scores of 78 and 79 for a weekend total of 157. Emilie Morin, an individual for the weekend was the runner up for the weekend. Morin brought in scores of 82 and 78 for a weekend total of 160. Ariana Urrea from Hernan Rey Academy rounded out the top three honors with scores of 80 and 82, a final score of 162.

Allyson Benson from Mike Bender Academy rounded out the top three honors with a final score of 211.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
