On Saturday, March 30, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Ohio Kickoff at Delaware at Delaware Golf Club in Delaware, OH. The tournament was made up of an 18-hole, one-day format and the field was made from six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau Division Boys 10 and Under, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.
Leading off the Tiger Woods Division was Garrett Thesing of Westerville, OH, as he finished with 75 strokes. Just three strokes behind him was a two-way tie for the silver. Jared Shemancik of Pittsford, NY and Blake Shienkaruk of Medina, OH both finished with 78 strokes.
In the Will Smith Division, Bryce Reed of Delaware, OH finished with 80 strokes, causing him to capture the first-place title. Wyatt Woodard of Lebanon, OH finished just two strokes behind him. Rounding out the division was Christopher Bridge of Shaker Hts, OH, who finished with 91 strokes.
Nate Benson of Fishers, IN captured the first-place finish in the Ernie Els Division with a one-day total of 87 strokes. Right behind him fell second-place finisher Kai Carlson of Pittsburgh, PA with 97 strokes.
The competition was fierce in the Justin Timberlake Division, but Emma Lin of Naperville, IL earned the gold with 93 strokes. Just two strokes behind her fell Gabby Hammond of Naperville, IL with 95 strokes. Sydney Leyerle of Helena, OH earned the bronze with 98 strokes.
The champion of the Justin Rose Division was Elizabeth Ryu of Dublin, OH, as she finished out the tournament with 103 strokes. Madelyn Arnold of Dublin, OH earned second place with 153 strokes.
Boys 10 Under
The Bryson DeChambeau Division was no match for Nemo Tsai of Ann Arbor, MI, as he won the gold with a grand total of 83 strokes.
