Northern Virginia Junior Open

From April 17-18, 2021, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Northern Virginia Junior Open. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole format with a field of five divisions that included the Boys 16-18 Division,  Boys 14-15 Division, Boys 11-13 Division, Girls 14-18 Division, and Girls U13 Division.

Boys 16-18

Northern Virginia Junior Open

Shawn Colella from Marcellus, NY was the first place finisher for the weekend. Colella finished with scores of 71 and 70 for a weekend total of 141. Daniel Ailor from Montpelier, VA was the runner up for the weekend. Ailor finished with scores of 75 and 70 for a weekend total of 145. Preston Worch from Rockville, MD rounded out the top three honors for the weekend. Worch brought in consistent scores of 73 for a weekend total of 146.

Eli Spaulding from Freeport, ME was the first place finisher this weekend. Spaulding brought in impressive rounds of 72 and 69 for a 141 total. Bennett Espenshade from Baltimore, MD was the runner up for the weekend. Espenshade finished the weekend with scores of 69 and 73 for a weekend total of 142. Paxton Ihm from Haymarket, VA rounded out the top three honors with scores of 78 and 72 for a weekend total of 150.

William Yoon from Herndon, VA was the first place finisher for the weekend. Yoon brought in scores of 96 and 94 for a weekend total of 190. Joshua Cumello from Ashburn, VA was the runner up for the weekend. Cumello finished the weekend with scores of 98 and 100 for a weekend total of 198.

Ava O’Sullivan from Exton, PA was the first place finisher for the weekend. O’Sullivan brought in scores of 72 and 71 for a weekend total of 143. Charlotte Cute from Fairfax, VA was the runner up for the weekend. Cute finished with scores of 79 and 75 for a weekend total of 154. Maddie Mccully from Knoxville, MD rounded out the top three honors. Mccully finished the weekend with scores of 83 and 85 for a weekend total of 168.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 8-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The tour’s vision is to provide superb hospitality and make every event a memorable one. With play open to both males and females, nearly every junior golfer is eligible to participate on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. Currently the HJGT is the largest multi-day junior golf tour in the United States hosting more 2-day nationally ranked events than any other tour. The HJGT has been able to achieve this goal by running the most professional events and providing an exceptional value to all of our players and families over the last 14 years.

Based out of Orlando, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the country. In 2021, the HJGT will conduct events in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Canada. Juniors will compete in 1 of 6 divisions which are: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys under 10, Girls 14-18, and Girls Under 13. Click here to view approximate yardages for each division. The HJGT season is based on a calendar year and players earn points throughout the season towards year end honors beginning December 31, 2021.
