From Saturday, April 20 – Sunday, April 21, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held the Northern Virginia Junior Open at 1757 Golf Club in Dulles, VA. The tournament was made up of a 36-hole, two-day format and the field was made from six divisions that included the Tiger Woods Division Boys 16-18, Will Smith Division Boys 14-15, Ernie Els Division Boys 11-13, Bryson DeChambeau Division Boys 10 and Under, Justin Timberlake Division Girls 14-18, and the Justin Rose Division Girls 13 and Under.
Tiger Woods Boys 16-18
Andrew Watson of Fredericksburg, VA was on his game this weekend, as he shot an impressive 139 strokes to earn the top spot in the Tiger Woods Division, Garnet Manley III of Lynchburg, VA earned the silver with 148 strokes. Benjamin Choe of Herndon, VA rounded out the division as he finished just one stroke behind the second-place finisher.
Will Smith Boys 14-15
The champion of the Will Smith Division was Michael Snyder of Fredrick, MD as he finished with a grand total of 148 strokes. There was a two-way tie for second, as Preston Worch of Rockville, MD and Carson Poulos of Virginia Beach, VA finished with 161 strokes each.
Ernie Els 11-13
The gold in the Ernie Els Divison went to Benjamin Baker of Broadlands, VA, as he finished out the tournament with 156 strokes. Benjamin Chamberlin of Germantown, MD earned the silver as he finished with 161 strokes. Cole Shingleton of Winchester, VA rounded out the podium with 167 strokes.
Justin Timberlake Girls 14-18
Maddie Mccully earned the gold in the Justin Timberlake Division, as she finished out the weekend with a two-day total of 200 strokes. Heather Sanbower of Chambersburg, PA earned the silver with 206 strokes.
Justin Rose Girls U13
The Justin Rose Division was no match for Keya Naik of Ashburn, VA. She finished out the tournament with 161 strokes.
Boys 10 Under
Consistent play throughout the tournament caused Carson Higginbotham of Clarksburg, WV to capture the gold in the Bryson DeChambeau Division. He finished out the tournament with a two-day total of 141 strokes. Vihaan Punde of Ashburn, VA earned the silver with 161 strokes. The final spot on the podium went to Leon Bui of New York, NY with 166 strokes.
